Getting a new tattoo today

PhoebeBuffay, 25 November, 2008 at 12:07 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 31

I know many people don't like them but I'm getting another one this afternoon after work and I'm very excitedf.

Those of you that have more than one and maybe have one on your back and wrist, which one hurt/stung the most? I have one on my back and that wasn't too bad, just wondering how it'll be on a more delicate area as it were.

I like them but only have one (hidden) one. I'd love another though. What are you having?

I was going to have 2 stars to represent K and me, however I'd also like his name. I've seen a few designs on different people that look beautiful.

I don't like them on the wrist, I've often thought about having one on my foot.

I'm all for a bit of body art, but draw the line at names / words.

    Your choice though.

I wouldn't have a name, even of my kid (if I had one). I love stars though.

Mine are all at the top of my arms (so far ?). Over muscle it's fine, but where you move further in and it's over bone, it hurts lots. Doesn't last after they've finished though, and it's always worth the pain IMO.

I'd mostly agree with you, but I have one over my ribs and the next day I woke in agony. When I looked in the mirror, the skin over my ribs was bruised! (Not that the tattooist exerted unreasonable pressure, I just think the lack of extra flesh there caused the bruising.) It was fine after a day or two though.

I have threee Japanese symbols on my upper back, running down my spine. It was the most bizarre experience of my life, and I don't mind telling anyone! It didn't hurt, but the vibration was sooo intense, it went from the base of my skull to the end of my tailbone, and was just amazing, I didn't want him to stop! Can't wait to get it extended, I want a wreath of lillies and violets putting round it. I reaaly should go see my tattooist and get it sorted!

I like a tattoed wrist on other people (ie Cheryl Cole or Angelina Jolie!) but be careful you don't regret opting for something so visible. I have one tattoo on the nape of my neck. It's Japanese Kanji writing and means Beloved Father. I like the fact that its hidden mostly, but that it can be visible if I wear my hair up/to the side.

LP - honestly I wouldn't, my sis had one from her little finger to her wrist bone , (about 20 stars going down the finger and round to the wrist)and it didn't heal well at all, she is having to go back to have bit filled in and re-worked. She said it was agony and she has a HUGE back piece so usually deals with the pain) She struggled with it for a few weeks to be honest as kept catching it and it really took ages to heal.

I have a little butterfly on the inside of my wrist, which didn't hurt really. I loved being able to see it being done. The pain was almost a nice feeling - I got a real buzz out of it. It was quite exciting.

I have a bow on my lower back which hurt a bit.

The killer was the fairy on the side of my stomach - that reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hurt ?

I really want another one, but I don't really like them to be too visable. I might get another one on my lower back.

Will you be posting a pic when you've had it done?

    Are you a hairdresser?

I'd agree with Allthatglitters (? I can't see) about avoiding that area - the chance of it healing well is pretty small especially if you have a very hands-on job, and it'll fade/get damaged quite quickly because hand skin gets such a rough deal.

I have one on my ankle and one on my wrist and the wrist hurt like hell. I thought it was just me being a wuss so feel better knowing I'm not the only one? I'm having more work done on my wrist on friday as it looks incomplete and like you I'm very excited.

Not to everyones taste I know, but it's exactly what I wanted and I'm thrilled to bits with it, also it didn;t hurt/sting as much as my back did.

Anyone in the Lincs/Norfolk area, I'd highly recommend him and he's based in Crowland.

Glad my memory isn't as shocking as I thought ?

I found BME.com really helpful for tattoo info when I was researching for mine. Just be aware there's a lot on there that the average employer might not be best pleased about!

It's on my right hand wrist on the inside, so you can't really see it as your arms face down most of the time.

It looks bigger in the picture than what it actually is.

allthatglitters...it seems to be healing ok, it was a little swollen last night and still is a little and I've still got the stinging pain.

Am i looking at it the right way as it seems upside down to me? is it for YOU to see or for others? I'm confusing myself twisting my wrists at all angles ?

If I hold my wrist up infront of my face it's upside down, if my had my arm on the table, wrist upwards and you were infront of me you'd be able to read it, if that makes sense....to put it another way, my hand is at the bottom of the picture, as i look down it looks upside down.
