getting a wedding coordinator....help needed

helzbelz200, 12 November, 2012 at 18:06 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi Guys

We need to book a wedding on-the-day coordinator for our wedding on 13th July 2013 in Hampton Court, Surrey. We are getting married in a venue that's normally a private school, as such they don't have internal planners / caterers. We are using an externally caterer who literally just supplies the food, not using a catering company and they usually they supply a wedding coordinator as part of the package. We have been told we need to hire one seperately.

Has anyone had any experience hiring a seperate wedding coordinator? How much they charge?

Also can anyone recommended a wedding coordinator who works in Surrey?

Cheers

Wedding planner costs vary depending on what you want them to actually do and how long you need them for. I don't know any planners in Surrey but do know of a good one here in Gloucestershire. She usually covers Glos but you could see if she will go down there - especially if it's just for the day?

Personally, I wouldn't bother. I would just call off the whole wedding

I don't come across many wedding coordinators. When I do they are often annoying e.g. chasing up suppliers for no reason other than to prove they are doing something and usually offer help then don't reply to the first request for assistance. So I was very impressed by this young lady Catherine of http://catherineandchloe.co.uk/ who recently completely and very efficiently organised a wedding which I filmed in this country for an American bride. She seemed to cover every detail and is actually qualified properly to do it!

Hi thanks for your recommendations - I've sent a email out to them all, hopefully they will get back soon. In meantime any other recommendations would be much appreciated

    Thanks

Another option would be to go for a Toastmaster on the day. They would do all the on the day organising - herding the guests making sure everyone is in the right place at the right time, help you keep everything on schedule and, of course, do all your annoucing and master of ceremonies duties, also adding an air of formalities to the day as they would dressed on full toastmaster uniform! Your caters will look after themselves, as will all your other suppliers, so it's only really getting everyone out for photos and then sat down + all your annoucements that you need someone for.

There is a good one in my area, not sure if he travels though - Wayen Shelton - http://www.staffordshiretoastmaster.com/.

Good luck whatever you decide to go with!
