Getting fit

Storky, 23 January, 2012 at 16:14 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 27

How are you all getting on, ladies? I know there are some C25K/C210Kers out there as well as some hardy shredders. Are you all finding it easier now?

My swimming has improved - speed, technique and stamina, and my squash is coming along nicely too. Mr Cricks is going to buy me some more lessons for my birthday.

Anyone doing anything tonight? I shall be going to the pool.

My get fit regime has started today (could have done with joining the weight loss thread but I can't find the scales!). I'm going to a a cardio box class tonight with a few friends. H has decided we're dusting off the bikes and using them more and we're going to do more walks.

Our aim is to go to the gym 3 times a week and go for long evening walks inbetween. Sadly my OH's back and knee is playing up so we haven't been able to go to the gym as much but have been walking alot more. We've noticed that we can walk further now and in a much better time. For example a road that normally takes us 45 mins to walk now takes us 25mins, so we're now starting to walk further afield.

I'm doing pub quiz tonight. Does that count? It's brain exercise.

Seriously though, I just found an aqua-natal class local to me, so will probably start doing that.

I have been to the gym this morning. It was the first time since I hurt my calf last week, it was OK but I didn't run.

I was doing well before my little injury, increasing my speeds and resistances etc but I am going to take it easy this week (I'll go on Wednesday and Friday) and next week I hope to start pushing myself a bit harder.

I am getting fitter, although that isn't saying very much! I am on week 2 of running and 30 day shred, so it's early days yet. I am hoping to do the Manchester 10k in May so I've got some work left to do, but I am up to 2k in 26 minutes so far.

I need to do something! I'm literally not doing anything which is a worry. I just find going out after work in the evening a right pain but not sure if thats because I have family?? or just an excuse! ?

    Noce one, ladies!

Ash, getting out of the door is the hardest part but the way you feel afterwards makes up for it. Would your daughter go swimming with you in the evenings?

I need to up my game a bit! I've been going to zumba classes twice a week but need to do some more. Considering running with H as he's training for a marathon but has to do easy runs on a few days a week which involve anything from 30mins to an hour running. If he plans his route I can skulk off back home if he's going for a long one.

Although I haven't noticed a drastic weightloss, I have lost 1/2 inch from waist and hips which I'm quite pleased with in 3 weeks!

I really fancy a swim now after reading this thread but am too full of a cold. Have started level 2 of the 30 day shred, no weight loss but definite change in body shape.

Shall be in there tomorrow for some Zumba action though- bstill have only lost a pound though. I think I am faulty.

I have been eating a lot more healthily and have noticed that I my body shape is changing (goodbye love handles!) I'm not brave enough to try out my 30 day shred DVD yet, but I am going to start on the Wii Fit again and then build up to it.

I've just been to a Body Pump class. You use weights to exercises all the muscles. It's fast paced and fun but I'm shaking after it!!

Did you enjoy it? I do pump 3 x a week and love it!

I just completely day 1 of week 2 of couch to 5k. The difference in my lung capacity in only one week is astounding - I wouldn't have believed it possible!

I met with one of the PTs from my gym last Thursday, she'd taken the time to look through my food diary and exercise sheet. I currently do the following:-

    Monday, body pump
    Tues, zumba
    Wed, body combat
    Thurs, Spinning
    Friday, gym
    Sat, zumba

She suggested that i drop the zumba and do another class of pump and another spin. In order to tone up, she suggested to do at least 2 body pump classes, once a week isn't enough. She also said that I need to eat more protein and suggested that i drink protein shakes. My problem is that on a Monday and Tuesday night, I don't have a proper meal because of the times of my gym classes.
so, I was supposed to be at pump tonight, but as I didn't finish work until 7pm, i missed it, so need to knuckle down. Work is so hectic at the mo, that I need to try and squeeze it in.
She also went through some of the techniques for body pump. if you use the correct technique, apparently you can lift more!
will see if it all makes a difference after a few weeks!
Anyhow, it's lent soon, so as usual i'll be giving up alcohol and one, possibly two other things, maybe bread and cheese.

That's a hell of a lot of exercise NC! ?

I could not live if I didn't have booze, bread and cheese. Well I could but I'd be miserable, they're three of my favourite things!

My OH always says that I give up happiness when it's lent, but for me, its a challenge. I did consider giving up my hair straightners instead of cheese, but I think I may find that even more difficult.

Oh my god!!!!!!!! What a small world ?

I was at Drumoyne, from 6pm - 7pm, Sharon's class! I was the chatty one all in black with the dark hair who put my weight up for the chest and tricep tracks along with my friend two over. My name is Samantha and Sharon occassionally called it out as she knows a few of us. Did you stay for step? I never stay for step, so I go next door and do the c25k on the treadmill straight after!

I don't remember seeing you as you would have been further back in the hall than me, I do remember Sharon calling someone 'Annemarie's pal' though so I'm guessing that was you? Sharon teaches again on Wednesday at 6:45, and the Leigh takes a class on Friday at 5:45 which is amazing as she is hilarious and makes it really fun! I won't be there on a Monday or Wednesday as of Monday because Uni classes start back up for 12weeks again. I'll still do a Friday, and just focus on the c25k in the meantime.
