getting in a tiz with the invitations! :-(

TheFutureMrsB , 17 February, 2015 at 11:37 Posted on Planning 0 12

I'm trying to get the wording right so I can get the invitations printed. I've googled examples and come up with so many different ways to write it I've confused myself!

Can anyone help me please?

We had 'mr xxxx' and 'mrs xxxx' request the pleasure of your company at the wedding of their daughter 'xxx' to 'xxx' on (date) at (venue and time)

In both my parents name and our names we used full names including middle names!

    Thank you :-)

The invitations are from myself and H2B.

Do I need to put the full address of the church and reception venue or can I limit in to its name and town and then put in a location map with more details? I'm struggling to get it all to fit on the template

Do I need to put the RSVP address on the invite or can I do that on the response card?

We had a really simple invitation which had the following wording:

    With our families
XX and XX invite you to celebrate our wedding day.
    Saturday 28th March 2015.
Venue name in location (i.e. village)
    Ceremony at 1.30pm
Dinner, drinks and dancing to follow!

Then also enclosed information booklet with full venue address, directions and local hotels contact etc.

    Hope this helps

p.s. we had the RSVP details in the info booklet

I was wondering whether to put our full names or not but I think it's right to do so. I probably wouldn't if I felt I had an embarassing middle name though lol ;-)

Another quick question.....how easy is it to print onto card on a home printer? I've not tried it yet

We didn't include middle names but would imagine it's the correct thing to do (we're pretty casual so seemed a bit formal for us).

As for the printing onto card at home - think it depends on your printer. We have a basic one which worked fine but my Dad had just brought a new one which had additional options on the printer set up menu which you could select the type of paper/card thickness. The results were better with my Dad's so used this for the invites but used ours for other little bits.

I have a sample invitation mat from the supplier so I might pop that in my printer and give it a go, if it's not up to the job then looks like I'll pay for the supplier to print them for me

    The firs thing you need to decide is, who is hosting the wedding? Traditionally this would be the MOB & FOB, however OH and I have decided it will be us. Next thing is, how formal do you want the invites to be? Ours are fairly informal, but without being totally casual. We went with;

    Bride and Groom

Request the pleasure of the company of

    Guests Names

    At Their Wedding on XXX

    At XXX

We didn't put the full address on the invite but have included it on our wedding website. Because our invites were double sided (Polish and English) we couldn't really have loads of information on them otherwise they would have been huge packages!

For our RSVPs we set up an email address and asked everyone to respond with if they were attending, meal choices etc

I used zankyou wedding website for RSVP and all other information like hotels, directions etc. Saved on card/paper and meant I could amend details or add if needed.

We had the together with their families.... wording as I felt it was nice to include both. I then put the name of the church and the location of the reception. I put the full address on a seperate card with a little map. We printed out invites at home and had to experiment with different card thickness to make it work x
