That's where I got mine from. I looked everywhere for a fur hooded cloak but indeed too expensive. this is thick satin and fur trimmed and also comes with free faux fur muff. I get married in december hence why i was looking. Initially we wanted to get married at Northcape in norway as i have been there a few times and we both love Norway, i even have friends and family there, and then spend our wedding night in the lovely bridal suite shaped as a sphere in the actual North Cape Centre. But instead now we are going there on honeymoon, travelling there by boat and walking, camping in the lovely wooden huts etc

Your plans sound lovely and it's similar to what we planned initially before something came up and we decided to get married in England after all but it winter!

    Hi n_icegirl

I am considering changing my plans and marrying in Lapland, but am wondering how you organised it? To get it all done through an agent is quite expensive, but I seemed to have difficulty in finding all the parts and costs for myself, especially so far before the wedding. Any advice would be very gratefully received, I hope your wedding was fantastic

    Hi and welcome!

Lapland is gorgeous place. I'm originally from Finland so I've been there many times.

Just one piece of advice is to avoid easter and christmas/new year time as the prices are three times more as these are the main holiday seasons in Finland.

If any of you need any help with anything let me know. Smiley smile

Hi,it was amazing and we cant recommend it enough but it has to be said everyone will have their own unique experience in any location....very special, magical, intimate, romantic and absolutly freezing cold, great photos though.......i havnt been on this website in ages but i can help you with any info or advice you like....my first advice would be...DO NOT use an agent or planner....you can deal with all service providers yourselfs....dont forget this is their job and they are professionals, they've done it before and know what they are doing....we managed to do it all via emails and a cople of phone calls....can you private message me your email address????i forget how to navigate this website....lol.i can send you loads ideas

Hi, I was hoping to get some advice from people who have been married in Lapland or know of the area.

I am head bridesmaid and helping my best friend with her wedding plans, she has decided to get married in Lapland this December and had a wedding planner helping with all final arrangements, however it has fallen through and she is left on her own to organise everything... which has turned a little crazy!

The last things we are looking to arrange are a photographer, florist and somewhere to get her wedding cake. The hotel she is staying in didn't help with advice of where to go. I have been helping her search however would prefer a recommendation if anyone could help.

We are taking a lot of things with us for decorations of tables etc and she has her dress, but we have been told to ship the cake over, but there must be an easier way? Any help would be much appreciated

    Thanks x

Where is your friend getting married. I've worked in most major resorts in Finnish Lapland and may be able to help you.

Levi is the area we are staying in, she has the hotel booked for all the guests and getting married in the Ice Chapel. She has booked a restaurant exclusively for the wedding meal. Things are getting organised but its the last few details we are struggling with. The restaurant have reccomended one photographer but my best friend didnt seem too impressed with the example photos she was shown.

We just need help with anywhere for a cake, a florist and photographer,

Any help would be much appreciated

    Thanks xz

    Hi Kerry,

I too am planning on getting married in Lapland in December 2012. It is awkward at the mo to arrange things as they only go about a year in advance, but I think it seems possible to do it yourself. I started by looking at info on all the agents websites, then it gave me an idea of what I wanted so now I aim to organise it myself. Do you know where you want to marry? There are some stunning places, and I think most things can be done via the hotel or place were you want to marry. Good luck, keep me posted on anything interesting you find, I may well need it hehe

Lapland in winter is a natural choice for oh-so-white wedding. But the frozen north to marry is not only to share the promises and commitments, and the fairy tale "that" dress. Here are the wedding to fall in love with the snow-covered trees, with a twinkle in Starlight. This is to say 'I' in a chapel is carved out of ice and the honeymoon spent snuggled a crackling fire.

Hi Icegirl! I just stumbled across this post

    http://www.belleamour.co.uk/2010/05/ice-igloos/comment-page-1/#comment-4211

It talks about Hotel Kakslautten http://www.kakslauttanen.fi/en/weddings/ in Lapland and mentions that they organise a lot of details for weddings in their chapel. I doubt they organise dresses but I'm sure they could recommend a local provider. Probably a local dress maker would be the best for the type of dress you'd need to get married in the SUPER cold! Smiley smile

There don't seem to be that many operators that cater for this, and the ones I've found mainly don't do the areas.Thermal underwear is a must if you want any photos outside, but really that may not be possible. Indoors it will be very warm! it constantly amazes me just how many people pay HUGE money to get married in Lapland with tour operators, when its not so difficult to arrange yourself! Virtually every tourist based town has its own website in Finland. You can book on the lapland websites.although most journeys here will have to be two flights if its a scheduled journey and not organised direct by any tour operator. You will find all information of arrangements in the Finland websites.
