I've been thinking about doing this for a while - I don't know whether there's another one somewhere but I thought it might be nice to have a mass introduction style thread. As people tend to introduce themselves once when they first join I thought it might be good to get to know a bit more about people where newcomers might have missed introductions etc or just missed posts and updates etc. I've started some qs below - some stolen from other threads where I thought they were good questions - feel free to answer as few or as many as you like or add some questions too. I've probably chosen rubbish questions so feel free to add better ones and I'll update my original post! OMs - feel free to join in too - it would be great to hear more about you and your day for us newer hitchers!

Month&year of wedding: May 2014

A little bit about you & your OH: We have been together for six and a half years – we’re very silly and have lots of fun together. We got engaged in January this year and have been planning the wedding ever since.

What made you join hitched? I’m very disorganised and indecisive and saw how much help other people were getting on here so thought I’d join in. I’ve gleaned loads of useful information so far and am really enjoying reading other people’s plans and getting to know people through here.

Why did you choose your username? Because I was stuck and it’s a song! Thinking of changing at a some point.

Five words to sum up your wedding: Full of things we like!

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding day? (Favourite part of the day for Oms): I’m most looking forward to the ceremony - the bit where we’re officially husband and wife. And then partying!

What’s your favourite purchase (so far)? All my brooches for my brooch bouquet – it’s been really fun hunting them down on ebay and at bootfairs etc and I’ve found some really lovely ones.

What made you choose your venue? We really wanted a barn and if possible somewhere that was exclusive to us and our venue had both. Also, because it’s not a huge wedding, we didn’t want somewhere where are numbers looked really small and our venue is quite cosy so it’s perfect! Everyone seemed lovely too.

What made you choose your dress?: It gave me an lovely shape – I didn’t think that was possible! And I really liked the cap sleeves – I hadn’t seen many lace dresses in prices range and hadn’t spotted any with sleeves like that so I was sold.

Song choices? (first dance/walking down the aisle etc): I haven’t chosen yet but interested to hear everyone elses!

Best Bargain (so far): It was my £7.80 shoes but I’ve since discovered they don’t go with my dress so I’m back to the drawing board for shoes and bargains!

Anything you've made for the wedding that you're most proud of? Not yet! But I hope there will be soon! We're making invites/the bouquet/table decorations etc so hopefully there will be lots of things in the future for flashes!

    Month&year of wedding: June 2014

A little bit about you & your OH: We met when i was 15 and became a couple just before my 17th birthday (he is 5 years older than me, so was a little wary of him lol) we have been engaged for almost 5 years and planned our wedding twice before now with 2 beautiful boys putting our plans on hold. We moved in together in 2006 and are finally getting married this year. ?

What made you join hitched? I am just very nosey and loved looking at peoples posts, opinions and rants but must say i have had some very good advice from the people on here.

Why did you choose your username? Because it is my email address i opened in 2003 when i was the grand age of 16 ?

Five words to sum up your wedding: Marriage, family, friends, great party.

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding day? Becoming a wife to my OH and feeling like i belong in our family name.

What’s your favourite purchase (so far)? My dress and wedding rings. Both as exciting as each other.

your venue? Very plain but gorgeous dressed, OH was very picky and hated most of the places we looked at even though he said he would be happy with registry office and pub lol.

What made you choose your dress?: I had found 1 i loved at more than twice my budget, my lovely mum offered to pay for my dress regardless of cost when i found the one. After umming and arring i found "THE ONE" in an outlet which was within budget and far more of a dress than the original. Bought it there and then and it's been hiding in my mums wardrobe ever since.

Song choices? (first dance/walking down the aisle etc): ??Lego House?? and ??groovy kind of Love?? as i know my dad wil love walking me down the isle to it. Not 100% on them yet though.

Best Bargain (so far): Mine is the same my shoes at £5.98.

Anything you've made for the wedding that you're most proud of? Invites, Table plan eventually, Table numbers and name placecards eventually.

Love this post, made me realise I am planning my wedding. Easy to forget in all the stress, planning and arranging. Thank you for my big grin ? xx

Month&year of wedding: March 2015 (although nothing has been booked yet).

A little bit about you & your OH: We have been together for 4 years this M arch and got engaged at Christmas. We're quite goofy & generally quite low key. We felt awkward telling people we were engaged because we don't like the attention. He organsises me day to day (i'm hopeless) and I organise all the big things like holidays and Weddings.

What made you join hitched? I'm nosey

Why did you choose your username? because my name is Kate & by surname begins with B and my married name ( should I decide to change it - i am trying to rebel a little on this one) will begin with V. I don't think my creative juices were really flowing that day.

Five words to sum up your wedding: constantly chopping & Changing (oops that's only four)maybe grumpy

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding day? (Favourite part of the day for Oms): I think the ceremony

What’s your favourite purchase (so far)? I haven't really made any purchases as I have no plans yet. i have purchased loads of buttons to make my own bouquet

What made you choose your venue? we haven't decided yet - I have been extremely indecisive and keep going back on what we've agreed. We initially decided to elope but I let me mum talk me into getting married here. So we decided on having a small wedding and getting married in UK and then it got bigger & bigger! We quickly got the humph over the amount it would cost for us for the venues we actually like (we would both rather spend our money on holidays ) so are back on getting married abroad.

What made you choose your dress?: I haven't yet but I picture myself in a 50's style tea length dress with a pop of colour

Song choices? (first dance/walking down the aisle etc):

Best Bargain (so far): no bargains yet

Anything you've made for the wedding that you're most proud of? I'm half way through making my button bouquet! I started early just so I could feel like I was planning and taking control of something.

Ooh somehow missed this! Here goes,

    Month&year of wedding: September 2014

A little bit about you & your OH: We met in 2010 and haven't looked back! OH is a welshie and I'm from kent but we live in Manchester with our two gorgeous pooches.

What made you join hitched? The budget planner thing... Then I stumbled across the forum and can't seem to leave! Fairly sure there is a page open on my phone, iPad, work comp and pos even OHs phone too...

Why did you choose your username? Not very original, a take on my name!

Five words to sum up your wedding: French, wine, cheese, music & love

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding day? (Favourite part of the day for Oms): the ceremony, seeing OH at the end of the aisle Smiley smile

What’s your favourite purchase (so far)? My dress Smiley smile

What made you choose your venue? It was one of the few places that offered plenty of on site accommodation for our guests, as well as good facilities , which was very important as our guests would be travelling a long way. It is quite stressful booking a holiday for 60+ people with a wedding thrown in the middle!!! Spent weeks researching and emailing venues and we were so happy when this venue came in on budget (just!). There is a beautiful barn for the reception which I cannot wait to decorate with bunting!

What made you choose your dress?: Was the third dress I tried on and didn't want to take it off!!! Have had a few wobbles though as didn't do the whole trying on lots of different styles thing!!

Song choices? (first dance/walking down the aisle etc): haven't chosen the definite ones yet. Probably here there and everywhere (instrumental) for when I walk down the aisle. We have a band booked that will play music for the ceremony, a strolling minstrel set for after the ceremony and 2 sets in the eve, can't wait!!!

Best Bargain (so far): prob the glass jar and bottle decorations for tables, about £10 in total for lace and ribbon etc. actually our florist is pos the best bargain reading a thread about brides bouquets, 200 euros for my bouquet, 2 BMs bouquets, 7 buttonholes, flower girl posy and 80 stems for jars/bottles including 10 sunflowers for 2 euros!!! They are also giving us petals for confetti and to decorate the aisle for free, yep free, couldn't believe it!!

Anything you've made for the wedding that you're most proud of? My bunting is a labour of love and hoping it looks the part on the day! Cut out, sewn, turned out & pressed well over 200 triangles so far..... Now just to see them all together!!

    Month&year of wedding: March 2015

A little bit about you & your OH: We will have been together 7years to the day when we get married. We will have been engaged for 5.5 of those. We have a little boy together, who was a little surprise but none the less .

What made you join hitched? I’m very nosey Smiley smile In honesty I was looking for tips and advice from other brides to be in the beginning of our planning.

Why did you choose your username? Because its true Smiley smile

Five words to sum up your wedding: Family, Fun, Neutral, Happy, Love

What are you looking forward to most about your wedding day? I'm looking forward to finally saying I Do Smiley smile

What’s your favourite purchase (so far)? My dress. I am not a dress wearer but I doooo love it.

What made you choose your venue? Spare of the moment decision really, we planned to get married a couple of years ago so had been to many wedding fayres. I then kept seeing images of our venue and couldn't help but keep googling it, we evently went to look around and booked there and then.

What made you choose your dress?: It gave me a lovely shape - pulled me in, in all the right places and made my mom shed a tear a little.

Song choices? (first dance/walking down the aisle etc): Not 100% yet, but thinking we are having one from Phil Collins that was on Brother Bear.

Best Bargain (so far): I got a real bargain on my tiara and veil Smiley smile

Anything you've made for the wedding that you're most proud of? Not made anything yet, but intend to make the invitations and table plan.
