Gift list for UK Honeymoon

Emmielou2, 19 August, 2011 at 19:51 Posted on Planning 0 1

Hi

We are thinking of asking for vouchers towards our honeymoon instead of a gift list, and i was wondering if anyone has done this and did you encounter any bad feeling about it? Also, anyone done one with a company who just do UK holidays? I have a phobia of flying!

We had a UK Honeymoon and asked people for money or Leisure Vouchers as we didn't need anything for the house - we went to London for 3 nights and still had about £600 left to bank (in the form of joint named cheques - didn't have a joint account) afterwards!! Went to watch 2 shows, had Afternoon Tea, did Open Top Bus Tour.

We asked for either Money or Leisure Vouchers - Leisure vouchers can be used against Hoseasons, Butlins/Haven/Park Resorts, Marriott Hotels, Premier Inn, Warner Leisure Hotels and then also to cover meals/days out with various places, including: Planet Hollywood, TGI Fridays, Pizza Hut, Beefeater, Bella Italia, Alton Towers, Pleasure Beach, Legoland, Madame Tussaud's, London Pass, London Zoo, The Original Tour Bus Tour in London . . . plus others. Their website lists all of them.

We actually got mainly cash or cheques, only got £50 in Leisure Vouchers, got a pot plant, bottle of Lanson, plus 2 Tesco's Vouchers !! We're assuming the pot plant, Lanson and tesco vouchers either didn't agree with cash or leisure vouchers but didn't say anythign to our faces. We also had a couple of people who didn't give us a gift at all. We did make it clear that we prefered their presence rather than a present, but just about everyone did bring a gift.

What about Scotland? Absolute Escapes has a few "Romantic Scotland" holidays. Here's one of five on their website. Although the last one is "Seaplanes and Castles" which I suspect you won't be keen on!
