Gift Lists

ExpensivePinkCakes316, 26 July, 2015 at 16:54 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi everyone,

We are planning to create a small gift registry for any of our guests who would like to get us something - people have already been asking - and would like to start getting this set up so that we can send out details at the same time as invitations.

Almost every wedding I have been to the couple have used John Lewis. The feedback from everyone I know has said that the John Lewis registry service is the easiest to use and really great but I'm having some doubts because the items are generally pretty expensive. As my OH and I already live together we only really need a selection of things which tend to be things we can't normally afford and I don't think many of our friends will be wanting to spend £100 on a saucepan. I would really like to have more of a range of price items so wondered if anyone had an experience of using other stores which maybe offer some cheaper brands of items.

What other services would you recommend and how did you find them?

Also, is it feasible to have registries with multiple stores or is this just too complicated or look a little weird?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions Smiley smile

    Hi

You could always ask for vouchers for say debenhams / next so giving your guests a choice. Plus they always have great sales so you would get more for your money x

We opted for a wedding list on Amazon - it's an option under the Wish List section - free to set up and can include any Amazon or 3rd party item on it :-) Gives you a huge range of things to add.

Not traditional like John Lewis but more likely to be able to have a range of items to suit all budgets.

I'm using www.marriagegiftlist.com - you can add things from any website and your guests can order from the website on the list, another website or from their local high street, so long as they tick the gift off the list. It seems really user friendly. There's also no charge to you or your guests, there may be a commission-type arrangement between the gift list website and the websites you choose your gifts from, but if there is I take no issue with it.

All but 1 wedding have had cash to honeymoon but one had HOF. Seemed to work well for them and service was good - however knowing that shop always has sales on house hold stuff and knowing you were paying more via the registry seemed a bit irritating. I would always spend the same - but if I can get them
More for the same money it makes more sense to me! Vouchers are a good call Smiley smile

Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions.

We will have gift vouchers as an option but a few people have specifically asked to get us a gift so will check out these options. Smiley smile
