Gift/Keepsake for Mums

Hypnopoison, 31 August, 2012 at 22:24 Posted on Planning 0 8

I'm stuck on a nice keepsake for my Mum. I have got her a bouquet of flowers, but I was wondering what I could get her to keep. I have got my Dad a really lovely engraved pocket watch with some of the words from the "Dad & Daughter" song we are dancing to at the wedding "I'm everything I am because you loved me. I love you Dad"

Would love to hear what you have done/are doing for your Mums or if you have any ideas.

(it is especially important I get her a nice little something as my Mum has been battling leukaemia this past year, so that is why we brought the wedding forward by a year, just so glad she is here to share it with me)

Thank you Smiley surprise)

Sorry, I can't help with the Mum gift but I just put "Because You Loved Me" on iTunes and now I'm crying buckets. What a perfect song.

Hi Jalepeno, it does exactly the same thing to me everytime. I knew I wanted to have a dance with my Dad, but I didn't know what song, until I heard the words ... Que the tears!

Thank you, she has put up such a good fight. Ive told my sister/head bridesmaid to let the song get to about half way, then to bring mum onto the floor to join us so we get a sort of family dance, as the words are relevant to all of us.

We were going to marry in 2013 but brought it forward to 2012 (2 weeks to go!), also because my Dad is suffering from prostate cancer too and I couldn't have walked down the aisle without him. The day is going to be so emotional! Just so glad my parents can be with me Smiley surprise)

Not helpful to you, but we bought our mothers Tanzanite earrings when we were on Zanzibar (part of Tanzania). Tanzanite is rare and getting rarer since the mines are running empty, so it's both appropriate and an heirloom thing.

Does your mum like jewellery? How about a locket with a photo of the 2 of you, or a pandora style bracelet with a nice 'mum' charm on it?
