Gifts- how to go about it?

FutureMrsFudge, 26 June, 2013 at 12:00 Posted on Planning 0 6

We don't want to sound needy in the gift department. So how do you go about including it in your invitations? Do you put a separate card in there? Ideally we'd like money towards a honey moon as we feel as though this would mean more to us then any sort of object that we may need. How would we word it?

We didn't include any reference to gifts and we received mostly money.

    Thank you.

Good idea with the debenhams gift card. Think we may look more into that Smiley smile

I included an info card in the invite with directions, details of local hotels etc and put a section titled Gifts. I then wrote "Your company during our wedding day is the most important thing and gifts are by no means expected, but if anyone would like to give something then money to be used towards our honeymoon would be very much appreciated".

I'm probably going to get shot down here but I personally don't like 'your presence is enough for us BUT here is the present list' type of thing. I'd rather people said 'you being there is enough for us' that's it or 'we would like money/gifts etc'. Is that just me? All the invites I get usually say this so maybe it is just me!

I don't like it either, I won't be making any reference to gifts, money or otherwise. If people are struggling to decide what to give then I'm quite sure they'll ask.
