We've sent my parents on a weekend away but mr winters mum....we're not sure yet. flowers aren't particularly exciting, she doesn't have ornaments, she has no pictures on display-not even of her own wedding, the chemo has put her off chocolate and with the routine of hospital visits, sending them away isn't an option so we've no idea at all! :/

OH's mum is tricky to buy for too, normally she just says M&S vouchers for everything but I'm not a voucher fan and don't think that's v personal either! Everything I've looked at online is a bit cheesy, but like the silver frame idea maybe I'll do flowers and that :-)! xxx

My mam hates flowers (because they die) and ornaments (because then she has to dust more) etc...

so far I have bought her a necklace to match the BMs but will find more things too

Yeah it's tricky- we want to give her something.....but it's so hard to know what. she doesn't wear jewellery and the only thing she really wanted we got her for christmas (a new address book so hardly the most exciting gift in the world to begin with!)

originally we had planned to give both sets of parents an afternoon tea voucher each so they had something to look forward to after the wedding, but my parents have had a rough time lately so the tea became a weekend. and mr winters mum just wouldn't be able to enjoy afternoon tea.......argh!

makes you understand why flowers is such a popular option! lol

OH's mum lives abroad so we agreed that there was no point in getting her flowers that she wouldn't be able to fly home with. Instead we've gone with engraved vases for both mum's.

I got my parents small individual presents / little survival kit bags (dad; cuffs, socks and that. Mum; jewellery box, beauty products).

We have also got them vouchers for their favourite restaurant and booked them a table for the following Saturday (also my birthday). Plan is we are going to get a thank you card, write the time and date details, put the vouchers in and post it on our way to the airport so they receive it when we are away. Thought it would be a nice little surprise and a nice way of continuing the celebrations.

Love the idea of sending them away. Also I was considering booking afternoon tea for my mum and me when I returned.

We are keeping our eye out for weekend breaks on Secret Escapes for them. Our wedding's abroad so flowers are a no no really because they couldn't get them on the flight home.

OH's Dad is a massive foodie so we're looking in to some gourmet breaks for them and somewhere near the sea for my parents.

We'll probably also do photo frames for them and have a rose bush delivered to each set of parents after the wedding.

I got our mums a cute little keyring from etsy - I love flowers but step mum lives in Oz so she has no where to put them and I preferred the idea of something they can keep - I thought they were cute (bit cheesy but our mums will love them) so thats the mother of the bride and groom sorted just need help with stepmum
