Giving notice

Shnarfy1, 1 July, 2010 at 10:55 Posted on Planning 0 1

Hey everyone,

So yesterday we finally managed to get around to giving notice! I just wanted to query something with you lot, is it normal for them to display your full address on the computer system? I personally was quite shocked that they would be allowed to do that and am feeling extremely uncomfortable and unsafe at the thought of it being displayed. Without going into unneccessary details there are several people we would not want knowing our address and I feel quite vulnerable knowing anyone can see it.

Yes it is - they publish your complete address for two weeks on the boards in the registry office, I suppose so that if it was John Smith people would know which John Smith it was to protest about iyswim. I don't know if there's a way round it if you've got concerns.

It is normal to display both names and addresses but I think if there are issues of safety, for example, you can ask for the address not to be displayed. I think the Registry Office might have a duty to still supply the information if asked, but that would be a likely deterrent.

Talk to your registy office and explain your concerns.
