Glasses (specs) - will you be wearing yours on your wedding day?

TheFutureMrsB , 16 September, 2014 at 13:47 Posted on Planning 0 23

I wear glasses all the time, I'm not sure whether they will 'spoil' my look on my wedding day. I can't wear contact lenses so I guess I've got no choice.

Just wondering what everyone else is doing ?

I wear glasses every day, but don't need to wear them all the time, so will be leaving them firmly in their case. As many people know me without my glasses as with them, so it won't be as though I look odd.

H2B wears specs too every day, but also has contacts for sports and "vain days".....so I know he will be leaving his in the case too.

My sister, on the other hand, wears hers every waking minute, has done since she was 3.....and looks odd without them, so her answer would be that she is not "her" without her glasses.

Don't go risking a headache just because you think they might spoil your look!

I wear glasses and everyone knows me with glasses on so i am definitely wearing mine, dont want to look back at photos and think who is that.

I did consider contacts but just feel i want to be me and look like me. My partner wears glasses but never when we go out so he is wearing contacts and most people see him without them.

I don't wear glasses so can't comment from my own experience, but OH wears for distance and he'll be popping them on and off when needed throughout the day. (Hopefully in order to see me walking up the aisle haha).

My SIL who married in last year wears glasses all day long, you never see her without them. Yet on wedding day she wore contacts and didn't look at all like herself; fine for some people to do, i understand the reasoning, but we all felt it was strange and looking back on pictures she doesn't seem real if that makes sense.

Yet another future SIL also wears glasses day in day out, physically can't see a thing without them, and she's said she'd wear them on her day as the Q of contacts instead doesn't make sense to her, as it's not her.

I wear glasses, but not planning to on the day. I am due for an eye test in October and I'm planning on changing to contacts so won't be a shock for everyone as will be wearing them

for a year +. In pictures I take my glasses off anyway so guess I wouldn't look weird to people. I would just be blind without glasses and no contacts.

I wear contacts everyday so I'll be leaving my glasses in their case
(in my handbag ... you never know when you might lose a lens!)

My OH wears glasses everyday and has said that he will wear them on the day as he's so used to wearing them

I feel 'naked' without my glasses on and people know me wearing them. I think I look odd without them but some people say to me I look fine without them on. I may wear them but buy a new pair which are less prominent than the ones I wear normally

Thanks for the responses ladies ?

I don't wear glasses so not relevant for me, but my H2B wears his all the time as he's short sighted and I actually think he would look add not wearing them.. plus I would just get to see his squinting face as I walk down the aisle!! Not his best look!

He will probably wear his 'trendy' pair that I like, rather than his 'nerdier' day to day ones.

This is a big dilema for me!! I wear glasses day in day out, and extremely rarely contact lensers. I am wearing contact lensers though as I hate idea of camera picking any tiny blemishes in them up or catching the light oddly that for some reason would upset me!

I can't see without mine, so guess that takes the dilemma away!

I wear glasses all the time and can't see without them. I considered getting contacts for the wedding, but h2b said "why would you do that? i want you to look like you". So, instead, I'm going to get a "special" pair of glasses - my current pair are heavy black frames, and while i like them for everyday, i'd like something that goes better with my dress and opens up my eyes.

I'll definitely be wearing mine too - I got myself a nice lighter pair last year rather than the darker plastic I used to wear thinking theyd be nice to wear on the wedding day too but I keep doing DIY in them and theres quite a few paint splatters on the sides - must get them cleaned up! Each to their own but I do think its a little bit of shame you never see bespectacled brides in the magazines...

I think I'm going to get a new pair of glasses, I'm due an eye test soon anyway. I've seen some rimless ones in Specsavers so they will probably work better than the black framed ones I wear now and open up my eyes more :-)

I wear glasses all the time and don't feel right without them, so I decided to treat myself! I bought a new pair that are a bit special and a bit spangly especially for the day! They are stunning and they aren't too much so as to detract from the veil and tiara. There is a lady, if you can afford it, who does bespoke wedding glasses. Mine were from SelectSpecs though. I did get a quote from the specialist lady, but it was beyond my means!

I was just having this discussion with my mam today. I'm short sighted and it's the first and last thing I do every day :-)
So I'll be wearing mine cos I think my face will look funny without them ?

I flashed them ages ago, but I am always willing to flash them again!! I love my special glasses!

I chose them in grey with sparkles, and they actually look really light and delicate.

Wearing lenses but taking glasses and kit with me to take them out if my eyes get tired as it is a long day and sometimes I end up with my eyelids practically stuck together. Hate being so short sighted! (-11.5 so no way could I go without!)

I am a full time glasses wearer but on evenings out that will be hot I wear my lenses, the glasses on my face feel hto and chunky! Plus my glasses suit me better when my hair is up (most of the time) and i look muich better with my hair down and no glasses (when i go out or special occcassions). So my wedding day I WONT be wearing them. Also as my H2B prefers me without them

I wear glasses all the time since I was 16. I tried contacts as oh wanted me too but my eyes didn't agree with them. I was very silly and got very upset about it and then realised

That glasses are apart from me Smiley smile

I wear glasses everyday and I do it because it is convenient, however I have been meaning to try out contacts, mostly for nights out and special occasions so this will give me a push. It mostly for the photos, no relections from the lenses or glasses slipping on my nose. Hopefully it will agree with me.
