Glitter candles or not?

SoontobeMrsJ, 11 June, 2015 at 20:08 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi

Im after some non-biased opinions. I've just made some glitter initial letters for our wedding.

I over-estimated the amount of glitter and have tons left over. I've been thinking what to do with the rest.. We're having a country wedding (tree slices, country flowers, hessian etc).

We had thought about having tea light candles on our tables. I like these with glitter but h2b not too keen.

What do you think?

Also any ideas where I can get candles this type of size from? Should I look for candles already in jars or buy tea lights, in which cases here would I get the jars from?

Also how many would you put per round table of 8 guests? Edited to say on the table is wood slice, flowers in a vase (not v big) and a frame with table number and a menu card.

Thankyou. And apologies if the pic is massive- am on my phone!

    I like them!

I think the number would depend on what else you've got on the table.

In terms of candles those size, could you not just use tea lights?

I LOVE them, but i'm rather partial to glitter! I'd say two or three per table, maybe one bigger than the other.

I think it looks great. Not sure on the amount per table I think that might be a trial and error exercise of setting a mock up table with the other items you mention that will be going on there.

Have you tried ikea? They might have the candle holders or candles already in the jars that you are after.

Just try them out on a practice table and see what looks right, maybe put some tea lights around them or petals? They look lovely though such a great idea

Ah, I love them!!! If it were me, I'd probably go with tealights, maybe 3-4 per table? :-)

Have you checked with your venue that you can have naked flames? Lots of venues don't allow this. Either way I would go with tealights - battery operated if necessary. Actually battery operated last a lot longer, packs of four available in the pound shop. If you go this way you could buy cheap small drinking glasses from wilko, ikea, charity shops etc. This will keep the overall cost down as it sounds like you will need quite a few.

    LOVE THEM!

Wish I had seen these earlier because I would have been doing them myself!

Not sure on the size in this pic, but I think they look like votives, try these on amazon, these are the ones I have bought. We are having 5 per table (round tables with 8 guests)

They look great, but will it not *go* everywhere a bit?

As long as your venue is happy with that and the flames then go for it. Smiley smile

Thankyou all for your advice and tips. Our venue are ok with candles/tea lights as long as they're in a holder.

If anyone wants to know, the best place seemed to be idea- 50p per jar with candle in too. Now for the mammoth job of glittering them all!

I like them and was going to suggest ikea too. If they are going around a centrepiece, uneven numbers usually look better than even, so I'd go for either 3 or 5 per table, depending how big the wood slice is.

If you have glitter let over, maybe a school teacher or someone crafty could use it.
