go nowhere without your phone and a snack

TreacleTart, 31 July, 2014 at 15:36 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

Got locked in my bathroom for nearly 40 minutes this morning - the lock had broken in the door! Thankfully we'd got workman round today who (with some effort it has to be said) managed to get me out, else I'd have been stuck til at least 7:30pm before OH got home! No phone on me to call for help. Id have had a nice bath....but Id have been proper hungry by then!

Gonna carry an emergency Mars bar at all times from now on!

I usually take my phone to the loo anyway. Urgh, I'm a horrid person!

    Oh no! HA!

When I was five and we'd just moved into our house (was just me and my mam back then) I had a strop slammed by bedroom door.

Note - don't slam doors in old houses. The mechanism might break.

We didn't have a phone as we'd just moved in so my mam had to go to the neighbours and phone the fire brigade to get me out (door couldn't be kicked in).

I got to sit in a fire engine though. WIN.

Haha i did try that but it was a tiny window and couldnt quite *** my leg out and think id have probably got stuck! that would have been more embarrassing when the blokes did show up! I felt such a div shouting 'help me Im stuck in my bathroom' out the window in the hope a kindly passer by would hear me...soon gave up on that!

If Id got a pocket in my dress Id have had my phone too - i guess im also horrid!

I always take my phone to the loo just in case something like this happens! I think I was traumatised by getting locked in the cubicle of the toilets at my dad's rugby club when I was 3! My mum had to get 3 of the particularly burly players to wrench the door off the hinges and get me out!

This is why I can't lock doors! I would have had a full on panic attack if this happened to me.

This happened to me in my old house, the handle mechanism broke inside when I was in the bathroom. My ex-h was completely useless, had to wait a good half hour for my Dad to come and dismantle it. Good job he was available. The window was locked too so I had no way out. Horribly claustrophobic. I never shut doors any more!

We never shut any doors in our flat as it's so bloody warm! But I never take my phone into the bathroom. Maybe I should.

I once got stuck in my own porch. I left the house and shut the front door behind me leaving my keys inside. That was stupid enough, but wouldn't have been a problem as my ex was due home before me. However, for some reason our porch doors had a bolt on the outside and we'd had a parcel delivery. The delivery man had left the box in the porch, and being considerate, locked the porch doors to prevent it being seen and possibly stolen. Why I hadnt heard him knock, I dont know! Fortunately I did have my phone so was able to call a friend who, giggling like an idiot, came and rescued me.

It would never occur to me to take my phone to the loo so thanks for the advice!

I have a shower at work a couple of times a week and I've started taking my car keys in with me in case there's a fire drill whilst I'm in there (don't want the embarrassment of standing at the assembly point in a towel) so now I think I need to take my phone as well!

    Hahaha oh dear!

I would have kicked the bloody door in... repeatedly.

But yes, emergency mars bar in the bathroom may be a good idea... unless you have edible face masks in there. But hey, on the bright side, at least you had somewhere to do your business! hehe!
