Hi - I have light brown hair with patches of grey so I have highlights and all over temporary colour. I think you have to be very grey to go for permanent all over as once you've started you have to keep it up every 6 wks-ish so it's quite a commitment.

I personally would never just leave it although my Mum who is very blond tends to just have some highlights put through very occasionally and gets away with it - the helen mirram look! Guess it depends what colour you are naturally?

I have light brown hair too, it seems to be mainly at the front which is a bugger especially as i notice it everytime i look in the mirror!

Seen as I started to go grey at 17 there was no way I was doing it gracefully. I use a semi permanent every 12 weeks or so and then use the root touch up kits in between.

Anything stripey rather than a block colour will be easier to maintain. I'd go for streaks of your natural colour plus some a bit lighter.

No idea if that is actually possible though...

I have very dark brown hair and started going white (not grey, but pure white!) while still at secondary school. I dye it with a permanant colour every 4 to 5 weeks. I've toyed with the idea of letting it all grow out, but I feel it would look awful in the growing out stage and also once it had all grown out I'd look way older than my age. I may have no choice soon as I've noticed my eyebrows have started to go white too. Can you even get permanant dye for eyebrows?

I have brown hair and have had highlights done since doing an all over dye just wasn't lasting, especially as new greys would just appear round my hairline. The greys blend in with the blond now and I don't really notice them anymore.

Yep, eyelash dye works on eyebrows too. Just don't leave it on for very long - try 2 minutes and see. It's called 90 day mascara in Boots and is sold next to false nails I think. Or Eyelure do one.

Thanks Twiglet Girl I'll have a look in the morning. I've been plucking them until now but if I get any more I'll end up with patchy eyebrows!
