Going to drive everyone potty now but.... Not 'bridal' enough

Mispinkprincess, 21 August, 2014 at 08:29 Posted on Planning 0 11

Sorry with just over 2'weeks to go I think I've hit the 'panicky' stage! I apologise in advance for an influx of posts!

Im now worried I'm not going to feel like a 'bride' my dress cost me £50, it's not exactly what I wanted but couldn't afford to get what I wanted. I went for a short dress 1950s dress because it's what I've always wanted but now I'm wondering if I'll regret not getting a long one? I'm doing my own hair (still not fully happy with it!) and own make up (because I wasn't convinced that my MUA did a better job than I would've.....) I've also since broken out in a shed load of spots(!!!)

please tell me this is normal! Please tell me I'll be happy on the day lol!

sorry for any typing errors on my iPad which has a life of it's own!!

And breathe........of course this is all normal. It's not what a dress cost but how it makes you feel. If you feel $1m then it's done it's job.and your dress is stunning and £50!!!! Omg it looks a lot lot more.

Skin often goes into meltdown at times of stress. I know mine will be horrendous. Practice covering up with make up for the day, but try to leave your skin as open as poss until the day. Drink water, eat fresh fruit etc and try to relax. Practice with your hair too. Remember it's the wedding and dress that you want not what the magazines say you should have.

Please don't panic, it's your wedding day! I would love it if I found a dress I was happy with for £50 and your hair/make up will be beautiful and you know you've been able to afford other things because you're amazing enough to be able to do it yourself Smiley smile

You will be a bride. You will be marrying your OH and be happy as can be. Focus on the positives. Oh, and drink lots of water to flush out the panic toxins Smiley winking

I would never have guessed that your dress cost so little, so a big whoooo whooooo from me on that one - it is beautiful, and bargainous to boot!

Take a deep breath, make sure you drink plenty of water, get some fresh air, and eat properly for the next few days, and you will banish the spots and feel a whole lot more settled.

I am sure it is very normal to panic, but please rest assured, you will be an amazing bride - certainly from the flashes that I have seen over the months!

Thank you everyone. It's amazing how it just hits you, I've been all smug telling people I won't be nervous as I know I'm right marrying him, 2 weeks before BAM! Nothing's right! Maybe (re the dress) I'm a bit regretful I never had the 'experience' I didn't go to any bridal shops my family and friends weren't that interested so I did it all by myself online Smiley winking

Got to clean the house today ( the joy of being a sahm!) but might pop a Pixar on for the toddler this afternoon and try out my hair at least. I've got medication for my spots but GO ALREADY! Lol! I was at Champneys on Tuesday wish I could transport myself back there to chill out again Smiley amazing

I could have written your post!!

2 weeks to go...what is with the spots? I have them on my back for the first time in 33 years, and that is the one bit of flesh that will be on display in my dress!

I'm doing my own hair and make up and wearing a black handfasting dress. So not very 'bridal'.

But do I want to look like a bride? No. It sounds like you know what look you want, be that bridal or otherwise, as long as you love it then who cares what anyone else thinks. You will look stunning and more importantly look like you and your style x

Bless you, the spots are probably a result of feeling worried about the above. Try and calm down, and just kick yourself up the bum. You will look bridal my lovely :-) you shouldnt have gotten a long dress as that isnt what you wanted. I know you are worried about being cold, but you may suprise yourself and not realise on the day! Keep playing with your hair, perhaps check out some how to's on YouTube :-) all the best lovely, you will be absolutely fine :-)

I wouldn't worry about "looking bridal". Not having a traditional dress doesn't make you any less of a bride.

I wore a black dress with purple polka dots, so not bridal looking. BUT, it was my wedding day, so despite what I was wearing, I felt like a bride. More importantly, I looked like me. I never stepped foot in a bridal shop.

I also did my own hair and make up.

Yes I feel much the same as you.

I'm getting married at the end of next month. My gorgeous wedding dress that I bought off the peg from Monsoon in the sale last year was the first and only wedding dress I tried on, and as an older bride I could not justify the ridiculous prices of wedding dresses in bridal boutiques. I am lucky as I live in London and it has been easy for me to obtain some great accessories.

I will be doing my own hair but as someone who doesn't normally wear much make up, I have hired a MUA.

I can guarantee that you both will have the most brilliant day ever and be smiling from ear to ear. It is about you and your hubby and not about anyone else.

Wishing you a truly awesome and brilliant day Smiley smile x

Perfectly normal. You will have an AMAZING day. I keep repeating myself on every thread, but it really will be brilliant.

My dress was only £100 and I was having major doubts beforehand, but looking back at pictures I'm so glad I chose it. Everything will be BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! Smiley laugh
