Good and bad wedding based weekend *FLASH*

TheNinjaPigeon, 31 October, 2010 at 14:44 Posted on Planning 0 7

We've had a mixed weekend of wedding stuff.

Big good stuff: ordered rose petal confetti and cones to be delivered

bought bridesmaids shoes, they all wanted flats, and sparkly flats we found

Only bad thing is that 2 of our friends have said they won't come to the wedding as they can't find childcare. Now I really understand that it's difficult and I appreciate that not both of them could make it if they are struggling, but I am gutted for H2B as one of his closest mates is not coming even to the ceremony. They have been so difficult about it instead of just being polite. Feel bad for him.

Totally self indulgent post there :-)

Good news about your purchases, but bad news about the invitation declines. I must say that i think thats a rubbish excuse. They have almost 3 more months to find a babysitter, even if it was just for the ceremony and for both to say they cant come is a complete cop out in my opinion. I would rather someone tell me to my face that they didnt want to come, rather than make a lame excuse. Hope your OH is more understanding that me! ?

They can't find a babysitter between now and then and you still have 3 months to go? Hmmmm I would be slightly peeved to put it lightly. But well done for your purchases always good when you find exactly what you have been looking for.

And me - he's had to stop me saying something to his mate. I'm sure his wife could stay at home so he could come to the ceremony but apparently not. It's so frustrating. Maybe I should just look at it as 2 less people to feed. It's just such a shame that they are making a point of both of them not coming. Uurgh. At least I know damn well that all H2B's other mates will be really harsh with him......several of them have kids and not one of them has been funny about our decision to only have adults at the wedding, in fact they have been super understanding.

I love the shoes and the confetti cones, a weekend of hard work there. So sorry about your h2bs friend thats such a rubbish excuse, especially with 3 months to go! We ar elike you and not having children at the wedding I assume no one is annoyed by our choice as they have not said anything. But I would think that your h2bs mate could come without his wife/oartner, I know for them thats not ideal but at least then he wouldnt miss seeing his mate getting married!

Ohhh lovely purchases Becci ? Sorry to hear about your H2B's friends but I too agree with the above comments that it's a pretty lame excuse to not be able to get childcare especially seeing as they have plenty of time to still find someone! Why do weddings seem to bring out the worst in some people! Hope your H2B is okay.

He's a bit glum and fed up by it but I think he'll be ok. We had also asked his mate to do a reading so now he's not coming we have to think of someone else.

Becci - love the shoes! are they silver and do you mind telling me where you found them? One of my BM is very tall and wants flat sparkly pointy silver shoes!
