Good, small lightweight camera for quick out and about shots...

We have a fairly decent camera but its quite heavy and bulky. Means I dont take it out as often as I should and then have to take fairly naff quality pics on my phone to capture a 'moment'.

Are there any fairly inexpensive but decent small, lightweight cameras out there that anyone can recommend?

I love my Canon Ixus too. Mine's a 50 I think, so a good few years old now, but would definitely recommend the range.

I got it in the sale in Boots because i was fed up with only having my big SLR for hols etc when sometimes I just wanted something small to pop into my handbag - in fact it is so tiny that it now lives in my handbag so I always have a reasonable (8 megapixel) camera with me if there are any opportunities.

Hi Catcat - happy anniversary for earlier this week!!

I've got a Panasonic Lumix which is wonderful - it's got a 10x zoom, it's light and easy to use.

I love my Ixus 960 it was on offer at amazon in the run up to christmas, maybe worth checking out prices there? I had a casio exilim before (which I lost oops) it was ok but nowhere near as good as the canon.

Another vote for the Panasonic Lumix. I have the TZ5. It has 10x optical zoom, a wide angle lens and a huge screen. It is also the easiest camera to use ever!
