Good things to have in store cupboard for SW?

policefox lyn, 18 June, 2009 at 22:00 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 4

As the title.

I'm new to this but reading what I have I've stocked up on FryLight and Muller Light yoghurts (not exactly store cupboard!). It would appear that Bovril would be a good thing too and also more spices (I've got plenty but I've seen a few things like Cajun recipes and I've never been one for making curries but I think they will appear on the menu soon)

What are your must haves?

TIA

Definitely herbs and spices for adding flavour to food, and natural yoghurt/fromage frais. You can whip up quick marinated chicken kebabs with them and they're nice the next day cold in lunch boxes.

Jacket potatoes and fillings are a useful stand by.

I'm not doing SW although I used to, but a lot of their principles are basic healthy eating I find.

I keep stocked up with ..... mini babybel light cheeses, lots of fruit, Quorn mince, chicken style pieces and sossies (make sure they're the free ones), Quark, Laughing Cow Extra light, salad bits, baked beans, tuna, wholemeal bread, Pasta 'n Sauce sachets and supernoodles (for green day snacks), Hi Fi bars and tinned tommies .....

I'm not doing SW but things I try to make sure we have in are:

extra light Philiadephia mini tubs (38 cals per tub or 55 cals for Phlly Light) with chopped carrot sticks
Mini Milk ice lollies - only 30 calories and yet it feels like a treat.
Carrot and coriander soup (I keep an emergency carton of Covent Garden in the fridge for when my own runs out - only 130 cals per serving, which is 1/2 carton)
Eggs (sometimes have poached eggs or scrambled eggs (with skimmed milk) as emergency dinners)
Green & Blacks 80% dark choc (good for when I fancy something after dinner, I can really only ever have 1 square as it's so dark and rich)
Raisin Wheats (or Raisin Splits as I still insist on calling them, as a throwback to my childhood!)

I'm usually really good about cooking ahead and planning my meals so that I don't come home starving one night and end up stuffing myself but if I don't plan ahead, it can go a but wibbly. If I can minimise hunger and always make sure i have something 'good' in for when I feel light a treat, I'm usually fine.

As well as the Pasta n Sauce I always used to buy in the Batchelors Savoury rice sachets. and also the light supernoodles - free on green and I personally quite liked them! (bit packety though if you know what I mean!)

Also, sugar free Jelly - superfree food - I sometimes used to make up a dessert (of sorts!) by making up the jelly & hot water, and then making it up to the pint mark with Mullerlights - say raspberry jelly & the raspberry and cranberry mullerlights - quite nice and FREE!

better stop this list now, as I'm now on Weight Watchers, so have to count most of the above food! (except for the Jelly!)
