Got Bridemaid Dresses today! *Flash*

MrsRegantobe, 17 April, 2010 at 15:44 Posted on Planning 0 10

Well as above really!

I was starting to worry as with only 6 months to go I felt doomed. My Sil2b and mil2b and moh all went to a bridel shop that Sil2b had made an appoitment in. We got there and started looking when a woman of the street came in with like 5 people and they let her have the only changing room - as "it's only a few she wants to try on" So anyway I brush it off we'll wait no big deal. Don't really like most of the dresses but a few are nice, the few we like we are advised are no longer availble to order so I can't have two. SO we get left with just 4 to try on.

We only like one of them for my wedding it was just to formal but it was very pretty. It was a lot of money so I said we need to think about it, Thats when they got a little agressive with us! To get this dress in for your wedding we need to know in 3 weeks if you want it. You'll need alterartions anyway so need time for that. OK Thanks got it.

"Remeber you don't want your maids to out shine you, you dress needs to look good with their dresses, what dress have you got? What's the material?" I'm sure they are meant to ask these questions but she was not friendly at all in her manner. sil2b gave a curt "Thank you" and we all left.

So we headed over to Debenhams as sil2b had to get a dress for a wedding she was going too. I had told them both Debenhams had a lot of black dresses in at the moment and would the be happy to try some on?

So armed with 12 dresses (6 same design) mil2b and me sent them into the changing rooms and they came out in matching dresses so we could see. We had a clear winner and mil2b liked them! (I almosted fainted) and both bridesmaides did too! and total bargin as both came in under what that one dress would have cost!

Thanks for staying with the post so long! Had to Share! *Flash* ? ?

Lovely dress, Debenhams do have a lot of nice dresses at the moment, my bridesmaids tried some in there but have actually ended up with maxi dresses from Krisp of all places as that was the one that looked lovely on all of them and they all agreed on it! Serious high street bargain!!

They are beautiful dresses. I'm actually looking at them now and I may buy myself one.I also went high street (monsoon) after some stroppy shop assistants wouldn't believe that i'm getting married and constantly not letting my BMs try on and pointing us to prom dresses. I maybe 21 but I can get married and I can buy a dress! Grr! We worked out it was cheaper to go monsoon and add alterations on top (one of my bridesmaids is tiny!) than it was to buy a 'real' bridesmaid dress.

    Thanks Ladies I love them!

Mrs Spink to be! I get that too I look 15 people shouldn't judge to qucikly.

I know I thought to my self If I by a size 12 dress for a BM it will fit, if I get one from a wedding shop they measure you, then still need to alter them? (I do understand why but still)

I don't understand the ways of wedding shops! I suppose alterations are helpful if you're a odd size. I generally fit perfectly into shop sizes.

Its a lovely dress you've found. Its a shame that shop assistants in wedding shops aren't always as nice as you'd like. You'd think that the dresses cost enough they should be nice to customers. So happy you've found something so nice that everyone liked (thats rare!), well done
