Is anyone else watching? This isn't a repeat is it? Just bits seem familiar.

I'm watching it, the guy doing the announcing said it was a new series at the start. I don't think i've seen it before but have missed quite a few so it is entirely possible.

It's quite some undertaking isn't it! This must be costing an absolute fortune with all that renovation work, it looks pretty incredible now it's finished though doesn't it, though it is enormous! <practical hat> not to mention how expensive it must be to heat it <practical hat>

I think it's a new series but you're right it's very similar to another one - it's the glass separating to two buildings, I think they've nicked that idea

MrKJX is busy alternating between envy of the money this couple have (his dream is to build his own home) and (sorry Han) making rude comments about planners!

His current corker at work is a grade 2 listed building that the planners have said must only have natural products used on it. Only there were only three walls and part of a roof left on it! And they have been told they cannot use insulation.......

I've only caught the end of it but I thought I recognised the building but don't recognise the couple.

that must have cost a fortune. And the same as you dooby, it must cost a fortune to heat. And take ages to clean.

thats the only reason I'm happy with my 2 bed house, easier (quicker) to keep clean. ?

Too sterile for my tastes. No personality to the interior - it really does look like a visitor centre.

Actually you've got a fair point there Baron, whilst it is certainly something to look it the place doesn't look as though it is particulary homely does it? I'm presuming that either they are neat freaks or it's because they've not long moved in and so not personalised it yet.....or they have no money left to do that! ?

Sorry couldn't get back online. I agree with the comments about it not looking very homely, there wasn't anywhere you could have a good snuggle, essential to any home ? In fact I think it looked more like a house than a home iykwim.

KJX don't worry I too thought the planners were unneccessarily obstructive and are all too often which is a shame, however I'm sure a massive part of that it due to workload and the requirement to meet goverment targets.

My friend has recently purchased an old house which used to be stables. Anyway, they got the guy in from Grand Designs to quote them for an electric sliding glass roof for over the courtyard part of the building (they'd seen one of the episodes with this feature)

    Cost? £120,000.00 !!!

They're not going ahead with it ?

My first thought was that poor child is really going to hurt himself when he falls up/down those stairs when he goes through that unsteady walking/toddling stage. And where were all his toys? Poor sod probably had a two foot square playpen that he was allowed to play in twice a day ?

I actually thought I'd like the house when it was finished a lot more than I did. It was quite a stunning house, but just didn't have the "wow, that's gorgeous" factor, which, given that they probably spent close to a million quid, I was sort f expecting.

Grade II listed, world heritage site, area of out-standing natural beauty, land slip and bats! They were mad to take it on in the first place!
