I`ll start on main fleet junior to get used to the services etc...then after 3 to 6 months i`ll move onto the Embraer fleet doing domestic and close European. So yes very sociable, and different flying to what I`m used to.

Fantastic news. From experience it is seriously the best type of flying - I loved my days at AirUK (which was very similar flying to BMI) and well done on the promotion.

I'm sure you don't need it, but if you want some help preparing your briefing folder I have a load of briefing questions etc that I can send you. Obviously the answers will be different due to different procedures but could give you a place to start.

As you will be aware, Lufthansa is due to take over ownership of bmi from January 12th. We've always believed that it would be logical to combine bmi's medium and short-haul operation with our long-haul operation. The combination would provide a more powerful competitor to BA globally. As one of the options Lufthansa is now exploring, we can confirm that Virgin Atlantic is in early-stage talks with Lufthansa regarding the future of bmi. These discussions may or may not lead to an agreement and we’ll keep you updated.

Future wise the plan for VS/BD/LH i believe may involve LH buying the 49% from SQ therefore LH effectively owning both BD and VS and starting LHUK type operation. It would be the best fit for both airlines, and gain VS into Star Alliance, which they really ought to be in now, as being singular with no feeder service really leaves them in a fragile state.
