Green colour schemes

helsbels35, 19 September, 2010 at 17:12 Posted on Planning 0 24

Hi Everyone,

Im after some advice on colour schemes for the wedding.....i think I would like green of some shade but I am struggling to find an ideas website/blog to give me some inspiration on this?

Plus im thinking I'd like to include a second colour, any ideas on what this could be? The wedding is in April next year so im thinking spring colours but i am abit restricted as Ive got auburn coloured hair, only thoughts Ive had is purple? or rustic like brown? Im heading down the vintage shabby chic theme so on the lines of creams and brown trees (exposed branches etc) But are two colours too much?

Any pics would be great help Smiley laugh

Il stop rambling now, Thanks!

You could use Green with Creams & Browns which are all the colours of nature & I think they would compliment your Auburn hair. Here are some pallettes that will show you the colours together:

Lusmummy I agree that dress is BEAUTIFUL!! and i love that your doing shabby chic, where have you been looking for inspirational ideas??

Sherrie those pics are absolutely gorgeous!! where did you source them from?? Colours of nature I like that as we live in the countryside and are marrying within that sort of setting - big fields/forests on the possible venue choice!

If i was to go down the rustic shabby chic idea, is brown wicker objects like hearts etc too much with creamy vintagy lanterns/jars/birdcages?? or would they compliment?

You would never think I studied Art the questions im asking!

Thanks girls for all your help so far ?

I did a little (ok, long!) guest report of a wedding I went to recently. Think the photos will be of interest to you!

I am going Vintage. Colours for BM dresses and suit cravats/waistcoats will be sage green and touches of dusky pink in bouquets, and ivory for my dress and the Flowergirls.

Decoration of my venue will include bunting, china teacups and saucers and lots of DIY decorations!

Here are my mood boards -

Bridebrat, Im sure it was your ideas of the book hearts and books tied up table pieces a while back that got me inspired! My H2b is obsessed with books and reading, we have 3 floor to ceiling bookcases full, so its an ongoing joke with me and him aswell as the family hehe

I especially love the inclusion of all the buttons, i was thinking about using large buttons in my centrepieces. Have you made them yourself? or sourced them from somewhere??

It sounds like colour and theme wise ours could be very similar, when do you get married? Im marrying in April 2011, either the 2nd or 9th - when we confirm our venue!

I was thinking about small and big wooden letters with various words like our names and initials and the words love etc, where could I get these from?? I can't seem to find what i mean in google either...frustrating!

Yep that was me! We (Well, I!) have far too many books so need to get rid of them somehow lol!

I'm a bit of a button freak at the moment, it's not healthy lol. We get married November 26th 2011 so abit after you, both venues are confirmed.

I've found eBay are best for wooden letters, just type that into their search and loads come up, usually ready to be painted. I'm going to get "Mr & Mrs [surname]" and paint them cream, they'll suit our house for afterwards too Smiley laugh

    Hello, fellow "green-themed" bride!

I am having Hunter Green (see below) but being a winter wedding we are having ivory and Hunter Green with silver accents. Here's a page I found online about green themes, and green and brown is fab, I was toying with that a lot!

Are you like my twin??!! I was thinking the exact same thing with the letters, i thought il do them a cream or white and then put them up on the mantlepiece or on a shelf somewhere as a big reminder of the day...

How big are you looking at for them? because they seem to vary quite abit, how big is too big? I don't want it to be stupidly silly either!

Ive suggested using his books but hes very precious about them, even though he has rarely read any of the books twice lol, i was thinking of maybe scouring charity shops for a collection of brown books? do you think its possible??

You are much more organised than me and your next november, damn ive got to get a move on!! we think we have now chosen the reception venue (been to see four) but trying to work out whether getting married on the friday would be better (especially cost wise)

Do you know of anywhere where i can look at a green colour chart online? Its frustrating me that different places and especially designers are calling the shade of green i like different names from olive to sage...!

ooo i may soon turn into a button freak, just trying to work out what sort of table piece could suit them? I think i may encorporate them into h2b and the others buttonholes like one singular one with some flowers

    Smiley smile

Vikingprincess your colour choice is beautiful!! love all the winter themed bits like the pine cones and animals, so unique! not long to go now, are you getting there with the preps?

Ah there are lots of shades of green i love i just cant pick one....im so indecisive!

It's a bit weird, the similarities lol!

I don't want huge letters, just maybe 3-4inches high to put on the table with the cake, thought it'd look nice for the photos then can go on our mantlepiece afterwards Smiley smile

He wont notice a few books disappearing will he? lol just take them! I've been scouring carboots/charity shops for all of my tea cups and saucers, I need looooooads more yet!

We are getting married on a Saturday, doesn't change the price much at the Castle so thought we'd make it easier for people in regards to not having to take time off work for weekends.

I'm not gonna trust colour charts online, they're never gonna look the same as in person. I'm gonna have to take a chance if I go for china dresses for my bridesmaids, but I'll order just one first before ordering the other two to check the colour is right.

I still need to work out how to make a masculine looking buttonhole for the boys :/

YAY FOR GREEN!!!! We're having hunter green and silver for our colours. It's not the easiest one to find in bridesmaid's dresses unless you go somewhere like Alfred Angelo though. The search continues!

You could spray the wicker hearts in Ivory/Cream to fit in with the theme but I think the Brown is more Rustic. Maybe have the table centre flowers in Cream Enamel Jugs to bring in the Shabby Chic.

    Ahh lovely green,

wqhy not go for green and a soft antiquey yellow gold type colour and then you can work in cream or brown elements as you wish. And you could find some lovely spring flowers for that theme to.

You can buy florists spray which is made for the job. If you struggle getting it I can get it for you from my suppliers & may work out cheaper!

We're having Hunter Green and ivory for ours - with an autumnal sub-theme running through the flowers, cakes and decorations.
