Groom gift inspiration

BrainyBride, 8 August, 2012 at 12:31 Posted on Planning 0 13

Ok so I may have left this a bit late, but I am really struggling with this gift thing. I want to give him something romantic/personal-to-us for the morning of the wedding but I need inspiration. I'm less keen on the usual cufflinks/flask style gifts, but I've not got much time now. Does anyone have any gift inspiration to share?

Thanks!

I am giving mine a hand made painted wooden box filled with some of the things that make me laugh with him or things that mean something to us- he always asks me for a mint so mints will be in there, a miniature bottle of his favourite tipple, my favourite choc bar to remind him of me, cufflinks engraved with our inititals and wedding date, the bridal suite room key for later on!! he isnt a romantic man but he likes me weird little presents like this.

go with what feels right in your heart even if you think it sounds stupid i be he will love whatever you ge him

Mine has got a goodie bag of things with meanings behind them!

    A Watch - So he's not late

Socks - So he doesn't get cold feet

A miniature bottle of port - So he can steady his nerves

A keyring engraved with our wedding date - So he never forgets our anniversary

A good husband guide - So we have a happy marriage

A chocolate heart with a personalised message - So he remembers how sweet are love is

A Boudoir Shoot - So he remembers why he's marrying me

I got my husband (wow it feels wierd writing that!) a round Celtic hip flask as most standard shapes were really boring, some of his favourite single malt to put in it, Hotel Chocolat chocs (Planets collection as he is mad keen on astronomy) and a "Under New Management" T shirt. I wrote some little notes on each on some heart shaped post-its. I sorted a card via Funky Pigeon with our names on and then quoted the lyrics to our entrance music "Truly madly Deeply" on the inside.

    I'v put a box together with;

    A new watch

Socks - In case he gets cold feet

Boxers shorts - with a "Groom" transfer on them

    Aftershave

A poem I have written for him

And....... a few bits from out lives so far ie; first holiday ticket, (cos I am sad like that), things that will remind him of special moments, and then I have printed out small heart tags and put little personalised notes on each item.

    Sorry probably not much help......

Does he have any hobbies you could maybe get something around a hobby or interest he has?

I'm doing a scrapbook of all different stages of the wedding. For example, the date we booked our venue with a photo of it etc etc. Then at the end space to put wedding photos, new house photos etc.. I'm doing little bits here and there when his out though so I don't know if you'd have time to do it!

I have bought OH cuff links with a nickname we use for one another on them ? hehe think he'll like them.

Also, as he's into his guitars (he has 5...why you need 5 I don't know, needless to say I haven't bought him another one!) I got him a plectrum/guitar pick made from stainless steel engraved with I Pick You and our wedding date on the reverse.

I adore the plectrum idea! Thank you, I may need to steel it, or at least try and do something similar. I think maybe something like that would be ideal. There is progress - I bought a badge for 99p which has our favourite joke on it! So that's kind of cute and I think it'll be really sweet to give to him, but it would be nice to do something more special and I really like that plectrum idea. And it seems doable in 2 weeks!

    xx

I'm buying my OH a piece of art, we can keep it forever and pass it on to our children (assuming they want it).

My friends hubby bought her a beautiful sketch of a naked woman, it was really sensual and she hung it in their bedroom, I thought it was beautiful and very very thoughtful.

Love love love this. I think i've got inspiration now. I was originally thinking of booking a helicopter flight for a few weeks after so we've got something to look forward to after the "comedown" of the wedding (which I'm told we will experience). May do this as well. He's always said he'd love to go on a helicopter ride.

All these are such great ideas. Karenanne - I think the experience idea is brilliant!

I've gone for a beautiful sterling silver tie slide, which I've had engraved with our wedding date. I'm then going to handmake the gift box and put a note inside. It seemed personal enough without being excessive.

Now just got to keep everything crossed that it arrives in time!
