Grooms colours

NorthernBelle_79, 30 July, 2013 at 08:45 Posted on Planning 0 4

Just want to run this past you all Smiley smile

When OH went to look at suits back in March with myself and some of his family he decided that he didn't want to go with an ivory cravat as it made him look too washed out. Our bridesmaids and ushers/best man/ fathers are all in a deep, old gold colour. He eventually settled on the colour 'Ellis Gold' which is a pale gold but has a little more warmth in it than the ivory. However, when he went back to the shop with the boys to be measured last week he said that he wasn't happy with this colour and he felt that the boys stood out more than he did. He's not sure what to do as he would like to have something different as the groom, but at the same time, felt the darker gold suited him more. I've told him that he should just wear the same as the boys if thats what makes him happy and it doesn't matter if he's in the same colour........do you all agree?!? Or should he be looking at something that matches me rather than his ushers etc x

I would say that as long as he's comfortable with what he's wearing then it doesn't matter. As the groom he's going to stand out anyway.

My OH is wearing the same cravat as the rest of the men but will be wearing a different waistcoat - could he try that to make it different?

I wouldn't say it matters that he has to match you or his ushers, whatever he wants that obviously matches something and not completely off track Smiley smile
My OH & best man will probably wear exact same colour cravat as its what they both prefer, I like the different waistcoat idea though if he wants to stand out Smiley smile
My brother did that, same colour as best man cravat but had a different waistcoat and it looked great!

I don't think he should worry about not standing out. My OH is having a fancier buttonhole to help him look slightly different from the BM's and ushers.
