Groom's Present on The Day....

janbonjovi, 22 January, 2010 at 10:50 Posted on Planning 0 20

Just wondering what you're all buying - I haven't a clue!!!!

He mentioned he would like a racing day - is this ok?? I thought it had to be something personal and a keepsake???

Cheers

I bought H some aftershave, which had a sentimental value to us. We didn't want to go overboard mainly because of the money we'd spent on the wedding.

Im getting H2B a personalised Monopoly set! - but no it oesnt have to be sentimental or personal, i was going to do a ferrari experience day but he said he would prefer something to keep and i couldnt afford to do both!

whatever you decide he will be over the moon with im sure, and TBH, all he will be thinking about on the day is marrying his wife and seeing how lucky he is and probably wont give the gift a second thought!!

hope u see what i mean there about the gift and dont take offence to it xx

I didn't get my H anything other than a card, he wouldn't need things like cufflinks/hip flasks etc.

However when we got back I did buy him a new tool belt which he was delighted with and tells his mates that was his wedding gift from me...I think they quite liked it!

Hmmm - We said we weren't doing presents but I know he's planning to take a hip flask on the day - maybe I'll get him a new one ?

Found some on Ebay and then decided to see if there are any from the SSGB. Good news is they have them - bad news is they're £36.99? ?

Had thought of getting it engraved too...

    Im thinking of getting these

    http://www.shop-com.co.uk/Playstation_Controls_Cufflinks-220656067-256634651-p+.xhtml?sourceid=309

as i spend most of my life telling him to get off the bloody Playstation!! So it would be quite a jokey pressie.

Not looking to spend much at all although i might get him something else as well.

Me too! We're already spending too much on the wedding and we'll probably getting a lot of presents off other people so we didn't want to buy each other something for the sake of it.

My OH wants to wear a pocket watch on the day so I have already said I will get him one to wear as a present to open on the day. So it won't be a surprise but I will get it engraved.

<Twee alert> my OH is slightly old fashioned in that he used hankies so I thought I might embroider one for him to use on the day and give that to him as another present. Just with something like 'To my husband' with the date underneath <end of twee alert>!

    D uses hankies too! ?

We said we weren't getting eachother anything but since he's booked the honeymoon, I really want to say thank you to him and since I know he wants to take a hip flask on the day, I might do that (and I can't remember but I have a sneaky feeling the one he has was bought by an ex! ?

Think I might bite the buttet and buy the ship one.

    I wrote this (well stuck it) inside H's card on our wedding day, you can bespoke it to things you both like/know about;

I will love you in my heart
I will love you each day I start
I will love you in our car
I will love you from near and far
I will love you as days turn cold
I will love you as we grow old
I will love you as I hold our fat cat
I will love you while we do ‘this’ and ‘that’
I will love you when I watch Hollyoaks
I will love you when you tell bad jokes
I will love you while I’m all alone
I will love you when I’m on the phone
I will love you in the pouring rain
I will love you on a fast, fast train
I will love you once I finish eating
I will love you as I turn up the heating
I will love you when an email comes
I will love you if you drop biscuit crumbs
I will love you as I sleep at night
I will love you as I ‘flick the light’
I will love you in the Delhi restaurant
I will love you whether I am well or not
I will love you until the end of time
I will love you through each and every rhyme
    I will love you ....

Thanks for all the replies ladies - maybe I should go for the racing day experience ;-)) I know it's not worth getting him hipflask/cufflinks as they wouldn't get used - just clutter up a cupboard ;-)

    xx

I'm hoping to try and get my OH a decanter and two whiskey glasses with a bottle of the nice whiskey (that we can't afford for him to drink normally). I thought I might try and get our wedding date etched on the decanter.

I've been saving my Tesco clubcard points and I've got £250 of Goldsmiths vouchers now so he's getting an armani watch. If I didn't have the vouchers then he'd be having engraved cufflinks.

Oh and going to get some Boudoir shots done....hopefully he'll love that one haha Smiley winking

I have the 'My Beautiful Groom' journal too (again, I need to start at least thinking of what to write in it with 6 months to go!) and I know there's a watch he's after. But am also thinking of a boudior session too.

Seems like a lot but the photos will be for me to look back on after the kids and think 'ooh, my boobs were perky and I did have a flat tummy once!!' ? He'll just think they're for him!!
