Grrr chunky thighs are such a curse..

Sunset21, 18 June, 2009 at 16:19 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 25

I had a few hours on my own today and went on the hunt for some white linen trousers, i've convinced myself i'd look lovely in some with a navy strappy top I have and sparkly flip flops. I got some in Primark, fit perfectly but totally see through but everywhere else I went I looked like i'd been poured into them ?

I blame my parents.

    I feel your pain

(literally, may have to invest in some lanacane ?)

I'm a12-14 and if I can find trousers that fit on the waist/hips they're far too tight on my thighs. This is despite the fact that when Gok did that love your body show my thighs were actually smaller than the average UK woman's ?

All white linen trousers are see through unless you go for a linen mix ? Just wear nude colour knickers and you'll be fine.

I'm not sure if you have one where you are but Uniqlo sell wideleg linen mix trousers £24.99

I have the Primarni ones - just wear some really shexy flesh coloured pants underneath and you'll be alright.

Agree with the others about the pants. You can't beat Primark linen trousers! I have far too many pairs. ?

I know most have a degree of see throughness but it was just too much on those particular ones for my liking, MrSun said 'yeah they look fine but you can't wear them out in public' ?

I've ordered some from Next now but like Voldemort i'm a 12/14 so have ordered a 14, hopefully they won't be too baggy around the waist.

I completely know what you mean!........I want some jeans that fit properly!

I'm a 12/14 thigh and bum, but have a small size 12 waist, which means that jeans are so loose at the top. I always buy jeans from Next, just because I'm lazy and I'm used to their sizing.

Anyone know where I should shop for jeans?

    I bought these last week

    https://www.oasisfashion.com/womens/denim

fecking things are £15 cheaper this week - pah! Anyway, they're a 12 and fit fine. I also have the dark blue 'scarlet' jeans in a 14 and they're great for going out in the evening. I never thought Oasis jeans would fit me. I'm more of a 14 thigh and bum but like you have a smaller waist

Ahhh....cheers Sunset! I'll pop into town tomorrow and have a try on.

Are the Scarlet ones slimming? I don't want to look too parsnip-pinny!

It's not just you - I bought the Primark linen trousers too and they are the only ones to even remotely fit me properly. And bargainous too! I was all set to invest in 'proper' ones but the sizing in all the ones I tried was just a joke.

A pair of white, smart linen trousers in Monsoon (last Summer) didn't even fit over my thighs and bum in a size 16! ?

I have the same problem. I end up wearing most of my trousers very low on my hips. Thats the only way they fit my legs and dont gape around my waist.

    Its horrible having fat legs.

I understand totally where your coming from. I have massive thighs too, I managed to get a pair from fat face and they are the best ones I've found really nice quite thickish material although you would still have to wear white knickers underneath and they are very wide on the leg area and they are so comfy. I got them in the sale a few years ago and my friend has the same pair and they lasted her through 2 pregnancies, because there are really comfy. Not sure if they still sell thembut you could have a look.

I have exactly the same problem...

I have a few old pairs of gap jeans in a 12, all my other clothes are a 12 (well most) and yet when I went to replace one pair as they were beginning to fall to bits I couldnt even get into an 18, tried Dotty Ps too and I struggled with a 16...

Managed to finally get a pair of 12s in Peacocks and loved them so much I went back and got a 2nd pair!!

    I have a 12 to 14 bottom and thighs and a 10 - 12 waist and its a pain finding clothes

Might have to investigate these Primark linen trousers...

Er hum I didn't say I had fat legs or massive thighs you feckers ?

H said last night 'those trousers would have been fine with some skin coloured knickers underneath' ? now he tells me? Do you think he's been looking on Hitched?

Ooh la la, the Scarlett jeans, I think, are very flattering but for some reason H doesn't like them. He loves the light ones i've just bought though.

I am from heavy-thighed genes on my Mum's side, and my sister loves those Oasis jeans.

I now want to know what the average thigh size is and see if I'm average or large-thighed ?

I find other people who don't suffer with thighs and look at me like I'm mad if I mention them - I'm not saying they're huge, I'm saying they are too big for the size of the rest of my body ?

My thighs are out of proportion to the rest of me, just measured one at the largest part (like they do when I get measured at Curves) and my tape measure has just show 60cm or about 23inches...<faint>

    I'm a 12/14 hip and 10/12 top...rubbish!

I think the UK average is something like 23 inches.

I'm glad i'm not the only one tahdah, not that that will make you feel any better but i'm also the same sizing as you, maybe slightly bigger up top.

Get Oasis Scarlet jeans on the bay of e- BNWT a lot of them.

I've bought about 5 pairs (cos I'm now a 14 not a 12 sob) for around a fiver each as I wasn't so fussed about them being brand new. Every pair has turned out to either be BNWT/BNWOT or as close to brand new as makes no difference.

I too have wide hips, fat thghs and a small waist.

If you watch this space, I'm doing slimming world and hope to be out of the 14s in the next 4-6 weeks so I may be selling mine!

Either that, or the lazy women like me who buy clothes that don't fit, because they don't try them on, then never take them back!
