Grrr Letting Agents - why do they not listen?

I love shoes, 20 March, 2009 at 17:58 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Four times now I have spoken to someone at a letting agents, four times I have told them we are after a 3 bed with garage...

So why do they keep sending / phoning me with details of 2 beds without a garage.....

If they are a large 2 bed with a 2nd living room with a garage that would be ok but they arent they are sending me details of small poky 2 beds without a garage...

Gah Im tempted to say next time they ring that we have found somewhere so they dont keep ringing me

I never let them contact me. We always look via rightmove and only give my name and mobile number for contact about viewings we have booked and ask them not to contact me, I just dont answer if they phone if its important they can leave a message. Hope you find somewhere soon

We are currently renting. Happy to join the post!!!

In October we reported that our heating kept switching itself off. In Novemer we let them know our heating was switching itself off even more - ditto for December. 2 days before the 'big freeze' the heating stopped working completely.

Each time we reported this we were told they'd send someone down - which they did - except that we had 3 different plumbers who all said "its a crap system which we've told them about". So when I spoke to the guy running the office (when the snow was on the ground) and recounted the story he said:

    1. Theres not a problem with the heating/the way the landlord installed it and said that none of the plumbers had said this!!!?

    2. Then when I was almost ready to go to his office and strangle him he offered this little gem:

"Well I've been without heating for 3 months before - last Autumn to be exact. " WTF!!!? Think he thought he was showing how much empathy he had for us - obviously missed the point that his problem was in Autumn - ours was in frigging coldest winter for 20 years and obviously didn't realise that as we were now honorary eskimos and we also had honorary sense of humour bypass!!!!? OH then took over dealing with him as he was worried I'd end up being charged with murder?

We now have heating (most of the time) but are expecting the fourth lot of plumbers to come back to 'tweak things' .

We're looking for a 4 bed house with a garden and garage, a few weeks back we had the details of a 3rd floor 1bed flat sent through followed a few days later by a 'courtesy call' to see if we wanted to view. Checked that they did have the right people then removed ourselves from their mailing list. Waste of time if they can't listen and send us things that are even closely near to what we want.

However the one we're currently renting through gave me the pearls of his wisdom that the landlord was allowed to let himself in at any time he wished with no notice. After we complained when LL let himself in to find me semi stripped feeding the baby. twonk - soon put him right and, with agreement from LL told letting agent to whistle when he tried to fleece us £150 for tennancy renewal (as well as charging LL £100 for it)
