..Playing with Lego!!

Went round PIL's house earlier to help clear out their loft as they are having their insulation done and found tons of H2B's old games.. and a big box of Lego so I asked if we could take it home, I love the stuff.

Have been playing with it for a few hours and made this for the cake table. I've decided to go down the easy/cheapo route for cake toppers and make Lego ones myself so this isn't completely odd and irrelecant lol. Needs a good clean but hey presto -

What a neat idea... makes me regret giving all my lego away 25 years ago to some cousins who never appreciated it - not that I wanted to give it away but I was considered "too old" for lego at the time. No idea why because I'd still be playing with it... erm using it in a practical and constructive way... now if I had it.

I even won a prize in a lego competition when I was 8 - can't remember what I built or what I won, but I remember winning it. It was a big national thing through the lego club I think.

Same here, I can't remember at what point I got rid of my Lego but I wish I hadn't. I had soooo much, boxes and boxes full so I've been reliving my childhood abit tonight. I wasn't fussed on all the sets, I just loved making my own things. By the looks of all this stuff, H2B had a pirate ship and medievil type sets.. Lots of bow and arrows, shields and swords, horses, a shark, Ship's wheel etc - Gutted there is no treausre chest or the tiny gold coins though ?

How tempted am I to get Lego cufflinks from eBay now..! No, BB, must stop with the Lego!!

I was really lucky with Lego - mum refused to get rid of it - even when we protested that we were too old for it!! lol. Now im so glad she kept it, means when I have kids I dont have to spend a fortune on the blooming stuff!!

    That looks awesome!!!!!

OH's sister is having a little boy in June and when we found out it was a boy we both immediately started looking at Lego in Argos to see what we can buy 'him' - we'll obviously keep it at our house though ?

BB I love it! We also have a Lego cake topper - in fact, our theme is Lego. There will be Lego cufflinks, Lego cake topper, Lego on the tables at the wedding breakfast. There were Lego bricks on the invitations, the Save the Dates were made from Lego, the tables are each named after a minifigure (we have Spartan, Mexican, vampire, elven, zombie and surfer tables).

These are our cake toppers. I designed them in the Lego Design By Me CAD program, bought the bricks from Lego pick-a-brick, and for the odd bricks I needed in a particular colour, I used www.bricklink.com which is a Lego brick marketplace. I may have gone a little bit overboard with the flowers in the field, but I like it!

Glad to see I'm not the only big kid around, I'm sitting staring at the Lego again wondering what else I can make..

Ohh wow dotcomm, they scare me a bit, especially the square boobies LOL! They must have taken you some time to design and put together though, I'm going down the easy route and just using regular lego men lol. Need to make a dress for 'me'.

Decided to act out our wedding in Lego form last night. The wall behind is the Castle we're getting married in.. H2B is looking a bit bald! ?

    Put the Lego down...

Haha very nice BB! For a skirt piece, you can use a sloping bit, 3678b, but it does make you slightly taller than a normal minifigure, which is why most of the bride and groom lego sets you can find on ebay stick a top hat on the groom! (H2B bought me a Lego castle for Christmas, I will let you hold your Lego wedding there for a small fee!)

I couldn't see a better way to do the front of my dress in the model, if I made it flat it'd look like I have no boobs at all! I am quite happy with them as they are, so I don't think I'll fiddle too much.
