Hi

I Joined this over 6 years ago when mr FB 1st proposed and I have mostley lurked on OT since then

It seems my mum has got fed up with waiting for us to be able to afford to get married so this week told us that she is giving us £10,000 to pay for the wedding ?

In a very short time our wedding has gone from being some time in the future when we can afford it to hopefully (if the venue we want is avalible) the 23rd October this year !!

So looks like I have 8 months to plan a wedding thats possible right ?

So far We have decided on a venue and my mum will do our cake so thats sorted

What else do I need to do ?

Dresses, Suits, Stationery, Photographer

I thought I had this all worked out a long time ago but my brain dosn't seen to want to work any more Help !

    Hello!

8 months is more than possible! From enagagement to wedding is almost dead on 9 months for us. Venue is one of the biggys so with that sorted your half way there ?

I'd say you should get dress shopping as they say dresses can take up to 6 months to come in. So get yourself some bridesmaids and get dress shopping ?

    8 months is totally do-able.

Once the venue is booked and you've got your date you can go on and book other things like photographer, florist, band/DJ etc.

I would recommend you write a 'to do' list - its kept me on track and helped me remember everything thats to be done.

    Thanks GeordieBarbie

We are only having 1 bridesmaid our daughter who will be 12 by then and 1 Page/usher our son who is 10

I think most people will expect me to have a purple wedding dress so I think Im going to go for silver or grey and have our daughter in purple.

We wont have the money until the end of march so can't go dress shopping till then

    Thanks ladies

We hope to go and look at the venue on the 8th of march ( we are a bit busy next week because its my birthday) and go from there.

I just feel like with so little time I should be doing stuff now which is a little hard as we dont have the money yet I know ?

Oooh it's so exciting starting from scratch!

I suggest you make a very long list of everything you're going to need, and a few words to describe each thing. It helps you get a theme and a vision of your day Smiley smile

you can be doing loads without any money, you can be deciding on what things u really want n looking into everything for costs n stuff.

I planned my wedding in just under 8 months, we got engaged beginning of august n get married in 7 weeks.
