Guest book ideas

Cupcake26, 11 March, 2014 at 15:38 Posted on Planning 0 11

What's everyone doing for their guest book/guest well wishes? Wanting something a bit different to the traditional guest book.

I have bought some vintage postcards and a little suitcase and will ask guests to write their messages on a card and put it in the suitcase. Then I'm going to have one of my bridesmaids send me one of the cards each week so I get a little something nice in the post every week and it will carry on the excitement! I have also stamped on each card a place for people to write some tips - do's and don'ts! That could turn out to be quite amusing!

We have a local lady who paints ceramics and they are beautiful! I am going to commission her to do us a big flat ceramic plate that everyone at the wedding can sign. She then paints over the text exactly and I'm going to ask her if she can paint some bunting on it or maybe a sky-scape of the city we live in. Then she'll fire it and we can put it up on the wall. She did it for a friends 10 year wedding anniversary and it was beautiful Smiley smile x

We're having a thumb print tree that we're making ourselves so people can sign the 'leaves' that will be our thumb prints!

I love those thumb print trees. So far our photographer is making us a picture frame thing to use as a guest book, its a normal kind of 4x6 inch-ish photo that he'll take, but the frame has a really wide border around it to be signed, and then they frame it...

We haven't decided yet, but I really love the idea of things you'll use/see again, because I just know I'd never look at a traditional guestbook again. I especially like the signed Jenga blocks one, or the tablecloth that everyone signs, then you embroider over the text Smiley smile

We're having a photo with a border for guests to sign the same as treacle tart. We get an 'engagement shoot' as part of our package with the photographer which will happen around this time next year. We didn't want a traditional guest book, the majority of people we know that have them say they either don't get signed and they then just sit on the book shelf never to be looked at again! At least with something like this or the fingerprint tree you will have something you can have on the wall and look at it everyday.

We were in two minds whether to use a fingerprint tree as well as having a traditional guest book if anyone wants to sign it.

Other option was an acoustic guitar for everyone to sign & draw on or a framed record.

We're going to have a polaroid camera, people take a picture of themselves and then stick it in some sort of book (Haven't thought about that bit too much yet...) with a little message for us.

Have seen someone who had a picture of themselves on a puzzle and they got everyone to sign the back.

The other thing I saw at a wedding fair was where everyone signs a wooden heart and then they put them all in a frame (theweddingtree.co.uk)

We didn't want a traditional guest book either because we'd end up putting it away somewhere and never looking at it. We have a pin board with the cork surface backed in patterned fabric and have decorated the frame with flowers, for the messages/well wishes we've got pastel coloured blank business cards for people to pin on the board. Planning on framing it properly after the wedding so we can hang it up.
