Guest Books

Asmurfette, 11 May, 2015 at 21:19 Posted on Planning 0 23

Hi,

I am toying with the idea of a guest book... i've seen one i'd like to get but is a waste of money? Do people actually sign them?

I know i've heard of people saying that people haven't actually signed them .. i hate the idea of having a guest book but then end up with only a handful of messages Smiley sad

We're not having a traditional guest book - were having a photo frame where people sign around the White mount so we can display it at home afterwards

We had a handful only in ours, but I put advice coasters on the tables during the wedding breakfast and we got loads of those which we will eventually stick into our guestbook. I also intend to then scrapbook some more mementoes of the day so it's more like a memory book than just a guest book. Ours was loose-leaf so I can take pages out if needed.

I think that is beautiful and will fit your theme so well! I don't think I could resist it...

I'm finding it difficult to resist lol

I've scrapped a lot of the sugar skull things, but still wanna keep some parts of it "me" ... i've scrapped the invites i was getting and im tweaking some vistaprint ones with a skull image i've found, with place cards to match.. i'm still having the sugar skull cake if i can, but that's pretty much it for the skulls.. so i a skully guest book would be fab ..

It sounds bizarre but there is gonna be a monkey/primate theme there too lol

We had a guest book. It was just a plain white book which I embellished to make it look a bit prettier. I didn't want to spend a lot because I was worried it would get overlooked and to be honest, it did as we didn't get many messages in it.

I think if you really want a full guest book, you have to nominate someone to circulate it and push people (nicely) to sign it or it can easily get overlooked.

Probably in retrospect, I might have gone with a photo frame signature thing. I once saw at a wedding the guests being asked to sign a gorgeous piece of wood which was later made into a coffee table for the couple. Great idea.

We had a standard guest book, we put it on the table with the card box and most people did sign it. Yes, we have lots of empty pages, but we have some wonderful messages, particularly one from my brother that made me cry with happiness so I will cherish that book.

This is something we are currently debating. OH wants a normal guestbook but i would prefer something we can display at home like the mounted photos where people sign round it or a drop box where people sign the little hearts.

We had a large wooden 'C' which I painted and we had people sign with a sharpie pen. I LOVE it! I had been to too many weddings where I was chasing people with the guest book in hand and this way it can be on our wall forever.

The link says made to order- if they're binding them, maybe you could get it with a few less pages?

Every wedding we've been to, the guest book gets passed round to every table and everyoe signs it, I think no matter how many people you have there will always be blank pages as more than one person signs or leaves a message on the same page. The last wedding we went to a couple of weeks ago, the DJ kept reminding people to sign the book.

I would like a guest book but obviously would love there to be messages in it. I think we will either ask one of the ushers to go round and ask people to sign or place cards on the tables and ask people to write a message on it and I stick those in the book. We have a master of ceremonies so I will ask him to request it too.

We are having a photo book.

DIY photo booth with props and a fugi instant camera which prints instant credit card sized pics. Planning on putting a glue stick with the book, camera and pens.

think it will be a nice keepsake with some fun pics to look back on, especially after the drink has been flowing!

Ooh, yes! My cousin had a polaroid at her engagement party so they took a picture, glued it in the book, and then people wrote a message. Thought that was lovely.

We've had something like this made from Spencer Brookes: http://www.spencerbrookesdesigns.co.uk/ourshop/prod_3679234-Wooden-Laser-Cut-Guest-Book.html

Ours is just a big, A3, plain rectangle though with 55 love hearts inside (plus one bigger one with our name and date on). I plan on ordering (haha!) one of my bridesmaids to ask everyone to sign one while they're eating lunch!

We're going to have different local postcards, and then once they're signed put them into a photo album Smiley smile Hopefully as ours will be going next to our rather large and unusual cake they will be seen!

Yeah i'm thinking it's just too cute to resist ... i could order my rather bossy BM to go around with it (she will love the excuse to talk to the single guys in the evening im sure lol) then i can do as someone suggested n use the remaining pages (probably 99% of it lol) as a scrap book x

We had a fingerprint tree with space to sign around it. It's hanging proudly in a living room. I love it.

My OH's cousin had a photobooth guest book so we all stuck in a copy of our photobooth pics and then wrote messages next to them.

I actually love both of these idea's .. the finger print ones are awesome, however, a work colleague of both of us got married fairly recently and did BOTH of these things so OH is putting his foot down and refusing to do anything the same as theirs (do you really wanna copy *****'s wedding) so i have bowed down gracefully lol

Our photobooth comes with a guest book so we have set up where the photobooth prints out two copies, one for the guest and one for the book, then they stick them into the book and write messages.

    *fingers crossed*
