Guest Lists

Mrs S*, 15 June, 2010 at 22:11 Posted on Planning 0 11

Roughly what percentage are your guests yours, OHs or both?

Mine seems about 60 mine, 20 his and 20 both. I have a bigger family and we're all very close. Plus the after do is at a hotel near my parents. Over 100 miles from where we live now.

Probably 60% his and 40% mine. He's invited every single person he knows though, regardless of whether he speaks to them or not. Some people are on the list out of some nostalgia trip of "well, we were a gang at uni 12 years ago" even though he didbn't even know two of them divorced each other, both met new partners and both now have children separately. Luckily the invites haven't gone out yet, methinks a little pruning is needed. Neither of us have big families, so it's almost all friends.

    Roughly 50/50

He has literally no family so he has mostly friends coming

I have no chums (see other thread lol) so mine is mostly family and friends of family

Ours is mainly family. I have hardly any friends either, well not friends I would invite to a wedding. The friends I have coming i'm really close to. If I wouldn't send them a birthday text I'm not inviting them! My OH is the same. We also have the issue now of plus 1's! Grr! A few of my OHs friends have a wife and kid so we only ever see the men when they come to watch football when they're allowed out (!) so we've never met the wife or kid, but know the men well. But if we don't invite the wife the man would be on his own at a wedding 100 miles away so prob wouldn't bother. I have to 'play' with the boys at home and go to the pub and go bowling on boys nights as I don't have any friends here. I've lived here 3 years, but been away at uni, not worked - just temping while at uni, or work at pub - i'm seen more as a boss than a friend as it's my PILs pub. This means I live over 100 miles from my friends who I can only see max once a month, generally longer. It sucks! I can't wait to move somewhere else or have someone to go shoe shopping with!

Sorry, this turned in to a rant! This explains why I spend so much time chatting to people who live in my computer!

Most of my family wont be coming as they dissaprove of me getting married to someone not of the same religion...we're not religiose at all.

So its about 60% his family (irish lol) a few of his friends...and the rest my friends/work poeple.

Im closer to some of my friends than I am to family so its not hugely awful although weddings seem to be one of those times you realy notice when family arnt there for you.

I also worried about plus ones....talked it over with a friend and decided if they are married or dont know anyone else at the wedding they get a plus one.

    Its about 60% mine and 40% OH's.

BUT some of mine have only been invited to keep the peace in the family and I know they wont turn up anyway so it will work out about 50 50.

I have a very large family but have only invited about 2/3

i would say its about 80% mine and 20% h2bs but they see him as family already so really its 100% for both!

Probably about 5% friends. 60% mine and 40% OH's. He doesnt have contact with his Dad so none of that side of the family are coming which makes numbers smaller

For the day I would say 50/50- with it being split equally between my family, his and our friends

The evening is WAY more his side, I dont even know 70% of our evening guests.

I think ours is 60% mine and 40% his but he has more in the evening and it is purely due to the fact that i have a split family however we have also only invited people we see or are close to not we decided if we have not really seen them in the last year or so were not inviting them god that sounds harsh dosnt it its not meant to lol xx

WSS. My parents aren't together so that really bumps up my "side" of the guest list.
