guestbook?

aliaisp, 5 January, 2010 at 09:55 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hey all!

been tyring to think of any other bits that i need to put on my to-do list and i've seen some people have wedding guestbooks for people to sign. anyone having/had one of these? was it nice to look back on later? or were people too busy to put in anything too thoughtful? i think it might be awkward to find a decent spot for it in our venue but i like the idea of having a momento like this.

i have also heard of video guestbooks but need to do a bit more research on these...

TIA x

    Hi

I have 'appointed' one of my bridesmaids to ensure my guest book moves around so if people want to write comments they can. I also have a wallet sized printer that can attatched directly to a camera and prints of credit card sized sticky photos. I want people to write next to their photo.

Don't know if it will work - i might be expecting too much but thoought it would be a nice thing to look back on

Not sure about video guestbook but we are having a pen and paper one.

At my friends wedding the venue passed it round the tables for them as people were eating the cake, I was quite tipsy at that point but seem to remember most people writing in it. I think its probably quite nice to read back through too. x

If you're after a personalised guest book then I can thoroughly recommend Prettywild's stuff! You have just reminded me to send her an email actually as I'm getting mine from her!

We had a guestbook and it is lovely to look at and some of the comments are really touching. (must have been written before the alcohol started flowing)

We also had personal video messages from our guests on our dvd and that is brilliant and highly amusing in places.

We still regularly look at ours, 10 years on, and it still makes me chuckle. Well worth doing!

We're going to have one. I think they work better when they get passed around tables and i'm going to assign a BM to be in charge of this. Then in the evening i think i'll leave it on the gift/card table so evening guests can add comments if they want to.

They're fab as long as people know about them. I've been to a couple of weddings where they weren't in a very good location and nothing was said so hardly anyone wrote in it.

We got one in M&S and I appointed one of my mums friends to take it round for us to make sure it was used.

Its nice to see what people have noted, and I'll look forward to looking at it in a few years time! x

Thanks all! will definitely look into getting one now - camera with printer sounds fab but i can just see the costs going up and up!!!

this is what i was worried about, but never thought of passing it around. have got 4 BMs so will make sure one of them passes it around the tables after speeches/cake cutting. am on prettywild's site right now... love her table plans too!!

    xx

I bought one for about 2 quid from WHSmith in the sale last summer, wasn't going to bother.

Only about the first 5 pages were used (although everyone signed it) so I used the rest of the book to stick our wedding cards and RSVP's in. Now everything is contained in one place.
