Guestbook ideas

Miss-KEM, 13 March, 2016 at 10:57 Posted on Planning 0 18

We get married in June and just looking to get everything finished off.

I asked OH what he wants to do about a guestbook and he originally wanted to go for a normal guestbook. I didn't really want this as it will just go in a drawer and won't be looked at much.

I suggested one of the drop top boxes but he wasn't keen on the idea.

We were at a wedding a few weeks a go and they used the photos from their photobooth for their guestbook. My OH loved this idea but we already have a photobooth booked which doesn't include this.

I looked at the finger print idea but think this could end up messy. Just wondering if anyone has any other ideas?

Thanks

Can you speak with your photo booth and ask them as most companies add this as an extra?

If not, how about a nice photograph of the both of you in a cardboard frame which people can sign, then you can frame it and have it on the wall at home? We have a photo booth guest book and then are going to have this as well with a picture from our engagement shoot.

We got a print similar to this for everyone to sign so that we had something to frame:

We also had a 'wedding pinata' where we provided little cards for people to write messages on and post with the idea being we break it open on our first anniversary. We got coloured card and pens to match our colour scheme so we're hoping we can make a collage with the messages... depends on what people have said of course! We encouraged silly messages, pictures, advice etc.

We did a signature board with our picture in the middle:-

Our photographer did it for us, using a photo from our engagement shoot, and that photo will now be replaced with one of our wedding pictures. It is going to be framed and we will hang it on the wall.

We also had a photobooth, and the package included a guestbook with all the photobooth pictures in and the people running it made sure our guests signed it as well. We have also got all the pictures digitally.

There are some good alternatives on etsy. I don't know how to put pics in on here but a couple of ideas I've looked at, one is a laser cut wooden tree in a frame and all the leaves are hearts and people sign their names on these and the other was two pieces of glass or perspex or something and people write on hearts and drop them between the two panes which you can then hang on the wall. They look better than they sound!!

We're having a jigsaw puzzle where people personalise a puzzle piece, then you can put it together after and have it framed

We are having a 'signing frame' for our day guests to sign- I got ours in The Range for a tenner- we will have a nice pic of us taken when we got engaged in it on the day and replace it with a wedding photo afterwards.

I'm also making a 'wish tree'- the idea is everyone writes a message on a 'luggage tag' and hangs it on the tree, after the wedding the tags will be put in a 'treasure box' and we will read them at out leisure!

Finally we are having a photobooth for the evening which includes a copy of all the prints in an album for us... so hopefully we will have some sensible messages on the signing frame, some drunken silliness written down on luggage tags and a photographic memory of all our guests!

I saw one couple who got people to sign jenga pieces. We have jenga and do play it, so I'm tempted to do this!

I really do like this idea of a jigsaw puzzle, I have seen so many different shapes that you can have and they all look lovely.

Love some of these ideas!! My concern would be any silly messages... My h2b's mates have made quite a state of pages in guestbooks at weddings we've been to previously (too much drink and think they're hilarious!!) so I'd hate for them to do that to something so pretty!!

Yes my daughter runs a vintage caravan photo booth and you should see some of the messages guests leave so she decided to let the guests write on tags that are given to the couple with a guest book and that way they can decide whether to include them or not ?

We are having a world globe for everyone to sign. We love to travel and our main wedding is in Italy so it ties in with the theme. I also love globes so will enjoy having it out on the side in our house!

We are getting married on November the 5th so I have been racking my brain to try and come up with something that we can use to tie into the date. So far all I can come up with is the thumb print idea and people use them as 'fireworks' coming from a drawn on explosion. Obviously im also open to suggestion too.

I have seen jigsaws, photo frames to sign, signed pebbles in a hurricane vase, at weddings and one of them had someone taking a polariod of you when you came in and then you wrote a short message on the bottom using a special pen so it didnt rub off and they turned that into a photo album which I quite liked.

We had a Polaroid camera and instead of sticking into a guestbook we asked people to hang to a frame. We're then going to go through these and put our favs into a picture frame Smiley smile

We are using a Jenga game, getting everyone to sign a piece and then we can showcase it in some way after the wedding. I did also look at the jigsaw idea or the 'drop box'. We went for Jenga as we have a 'board game' theme for the wedding so it fit best but I think something unique to you is a great idea!

Wow some lovely ideas. Very creative.

I love the polaroid idea but i'm thinking that could be quite expensive having to buy the camera and stuff.

Really appreciate the ideas though and will definitely be showing them to my OH.

    Thanks Smiley smile

We we had similar concerns and yes we could have opted for a traditional book for a tenner we spent 80 quid on the camera and 100 pieces of film.

We had a signing frame and a guest book for longer messages. That way we can have a reminder of the day up in the house all the time but can look at the proper mesages when we want to.

The only thing I would say is prep your bridal party to make sure people sign it... we have a couple of gaps on ours which would have been fine if we could find the gold sharpie marker pen the following morning for people to continue signing it!
