I've never thought about this before but this guy makes sense! (Hope the link works!) https://www.huffpost.com/entry/why-you-might-want-to-con_b_3331528

I don't know if it's just my friends/family, but I've never noticed that many cameras during the ceremony itself. A couple of times there's been a note in the OoS or the registrar/vicar has made an announcement at the start, but in general it seems like people keep their cameras to themselves usually until the signing of the register or the couple leaving. I never take photos in the ceremony because I think it's rude and I love smiling at the bride/groom as they come in, plus I'm not much of a photographer anyway so it wouldn't be worth it!

Maybe I'm just friends with a bunch of non-photographers though!

I don't think we told anyone not to take pictures, but nobody apart from our tog did until we were signing the register and did the posed photos there. We did get a couple of lovely candid ones on the way out from friends.

Katie80uk - I tried this as we got married abroad then had a home reception a few weeks later. I'd wanted to put it in the order of service, or have the minister make an announcement, but H thought that was too bridezilla, so we just spread the word in the days leading up to the wedding (everyone was there) and someone did it anyway. I was really peed off, but there wasn't much I could do about it.

I'd set my Facebook so that nobody could tag me in anything without my permission, but despite my nagging, H forgot to do so, so it showed up on his wall.

I didn't know if it makes me sound like a diva lol just would love people to see me at my reception not random posts people have put on Facebook, I was going to get my step dad to just say something before I arrive at the wedding and fingers crossed they take notice.

But yeah good idea changing my settings so no one can tag me. Never thought of that. Thanks

I've already posted here but looking back over the comments the FB thing is coming up- I have a real issue with this as I have friends and family members who wouldn't think twice about tagging (not whilst at the venue) us in photos that perhaps didn't show us in our best light so we have addressed this on our 'polite requests' page of our website

    Photography

We’d like to kindly ask you to not take any photos while the bridal party enters and exits for the ceremony. As well as minimising distraction/potential blindness at this daunting moment, we’ll have the official photographer on hand – and we’d much rather see your smiling faces than have them hidden behind cameras and phones. By all means, snap away during the rest of the day and night.

    Facebook

While The bride loves facebook, we’d really prefer it if you didn’t upload pictures of the day. Instead, please use the page on here to upload your pics - so we’ve got them all together – and we’ll then post a select few online.

LOL! I was just thinking this! You know it was never a problem when it was just a camera or even a video, but yes, iPads, especially held aloft as they video the service / speeches are a pain in the arse! They're HUGE! To make matters worse, they quite often have those covers that mean they take up twice the space. They nearly become A3 size!!!

It only takes 3 people to be using iPads before you've got a headache!
