guests travelling to hotel & reception

mickeyandminnie, 23 September, 2013 at 19:23 Posted on Planning 0 3

Basically we are getting married at church and staying at a hotel that is separate to the reception venue.

how would you go about this? we would like people to check in prior to coming to the reception as we won't get back to the hotel until 1 am - who wants to start checking in how ever many people then.

we had an idea to arrange for a coach to pick people up from the hotel (so that everyone has their cars for the next day) and then take them to the reception.

Have you had anything similar/doing something similar? how are you going about it? and how did you word it in your invites? im worried about losing lots of time inbetween the church and the venue. hence the idea to get the coach to ensure everyone doesn't pop to the bar for a quick one when they've got a load of free booze waiting for them at the reception.

sorry for the ramble

thanks in advance xxx

'For guests staying at X hotel, we will be providing a return coach to the reception venue on a 'first-come-first-serve' basis. If you require seats on the coach, please indicate this on your RSVP.'

Just a thought - what time are you getting married? Does the hotel allow check in before the guests need to be at the church (as most hotels have a 2pm or 3pm check in time)?

Just in case you are having an earlier wedding Smiley smile

    Hi kharv

Thanks for your reply - hope you're good Smiley smile

We are hoping our vicar will allow us to have our wedding at 12pm (he said it should be fine) there's a 45 min gap inbetween the cermony and driving to the hotel - so I reckon people will arrive around 2.30-3.00 ish.(hour cermony & 30 mins photos) I want the coach to pick people up at 3.15 - the hotel have promised that people can leave their bags and they will do the rest Smiley smile
