Gutted with the shoes :( FLASH

Dana_leigh, 21 April, 2012 at 12:13 Posted on Planning 0 16

I just got delivered this morning the shows I have been after for months from BHS

I ordered a size 6 and a size 5 just as I was sure which would fit better as I wear both sizes in my normal everyday shoes.

Turns out I dont think either fit properly. The size 6 are way too big with massive gaps in, but the 5's are gappy too! No way could I go down to a 4 as they are right on what I would call the limit at the toes.

Here are some pics....what do you think? Too gappy to be happy with?

I think it's important how comfortable you feel in them. I've generally found that if I'm not initially comfortable in heels, they're just going to get more uncomfortable through the night. (Unless it's just a question of "breaking them in", though with yours it seems to be an initial sizing issue.)

I know how frustrating it must be after having waited for your shoes, but I'd consider the long-term consequences?

The shoes themselves are really comfortable and they are a great height for me....I just think they look a bit gappy...

I may get used to it but will be put off if others think they are gappy too.

I have a year and some to keep looking, I just really like this style and there doesnt seem to be many other about. I have a pair similar in black which i wore to go out in, they fit ok around the sides but they are size 4 and peep toe so i can wear them smaller.

Think they might be going back to BHS Smiley sad

If you aren't happy with how they look now, there's a good chance that won't change and you may even feel less happy as times goes on and you have more time to look at them.

I love the style, they're really pretty, but I understand what you mean- in the 2nd pic your foot looks a little lost in the shoe- though that could just be the angle the pic was taken at. I'd probably try them on a few times over the weekend and see how I felt after that.

I am going to see what H2B thinks as he is sleeping right now (night worker) I am wondering about trying a 4 but am not sure what the actual difference in size might be length ways and they are online order only which is a pain!

I'm going to try them a few times like suggested and see what I feel then I think

I know exactly what you mean about them being gappy. I honestly don't think anyone would notice that while you are wearing them, but the fact it is already a problem for you now suggests to me that it won't change with time and if you stick with them you will be feeling unhappy with them on that day...

I personally think they look too big. Remember you have ages to go yet, so chances are you will be able to find something much more suitable if you keep looking. I feel like on my wedding day I don't want anything that will 'just do' - I want to feel really happy and comfortable with all my stuff! So if it was me they would go back and I would carry on the search.

I think you're right Pandorasbox, I suppose I would need convincing if they were right to start with.

I have got ages, I'm just impatient, but if they dont fit, they dont fit i suppose! I will try them on a few more times to see then decide.

    Thanks

You said yourself that you're gutted that they don't look right. And they don't look right! If it were me, I would send them back and start looking elsewhere for shoes! These look like they're a weird cut on the sides that would look odd on anyone.

Notice how much higher on the sides these shoes are:

It's a similar style, but these look amazing on! Unfortunately, these particular shoes don't come in white. If you really like this style, there are similar shoes out there, you just have to look.

I think that they do look a bit gappy on the second pic really. I woul keep them and if you find another better pair then just use those ones for going out and stuff. They wouldn't look too weddingy if you wore them with jeans.

    xx

Yeah thanks, I am filling out the return form later as they are low on the sides making the cut look odd.

The shoes i have which are a similar cut are much higher on the side and fit better so thats probably why they look better on.

I'm going to keep looking...chances are I will find some which i love more.

I'd say if you don't feel 100% happy with them then maybe they aren't the right ones for you. You want to feel comfortable in them all day don't you really Smiley smile

I know this is no help whatsoever but I need to say a massive thanks to you for saving me some time! I was going to order these very shoes from the BHS site as I've been drooling over them for ages! Were they these?

    http://www.bhs.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/bhsstore/116047/217608

I'm a bit reluctant to order any of their others now...

I have this problem as I have narrow feet, sometimes an innersole gives me that extra lift to stop the gap. If you can't be bothered with the hassle I would change them as you won't be happy.

I think this is one of those occassions where if you convince yourself to keep them you won't wear them in the end, they do look too wide a fit. i don't think going down to a 4 will solve the problem.

Was this one of the BHS wide fit shoes? I remember when I was in Manchester trying on lots of the BHS shoes that I too had this problem and I am a size 6. The Wide fit shoes felt massive but were really comfy - but I fall into the awkward bit with shoes due to an old injury. After being on my feet for a while I end up with one normal foot and one fat foot which can make buying shoes a nightmare. But that said I knew which were the comfy shoes after a trying on session in BHS and then ordered them online - I now have to break them in to be able to wear them all day - cue lots of ironing to catch up on!!

No I don't think so, but they are exclusive to BHS online so I wasn't able to try them on in the shops which is a pain! I have narrow feet and a massive Bunion on one, which doesnt help with sizing. i normally wear boots which hides narrow feet lol so this could be fun finding these type of shoes that fit! (or any other type really. I have to have some kind of strap/tie or they will fall off so am limited. Will probably end up with sandals.

I should actually wait because I'm actually going to have surgery in the next couple of months to correct my bunion but I couldnt resist these to at least try!
