H2B picking table names.

LoveHimMegaMuch, 22 January, 2014 at 02:27 Posted on Planning 0 18

I hadn't really given the table names much thought, or whether we were going to go for names or numbers. But the other day my H2B comes home and announces he wants to choose the table names.....and have it a surprise for me! (When doing the table plan we'll use numbers, which on the morning of the wedding he'll exchange for the names he's chosen).

Id previously mentioned on here that my sister told us of a tradition(?) where the groom arranges the honeymoon. H2B has done this and will be telling me where we're going at the airport! He keeps saying he's finding it really difficult to keep quiet and really wants to share it with me, but I keep telling him to keep schtum coz I Love surprises!!

So he's got another surprise up his sleeve! I wonder what he'll choose? And what common theme he may go for? Any ideas? What are your table name themes?

Things I don't think it could be........

*Holiday destinations.......I've got a 10yr old from my previous partner, so the extent of our hols have been Majorca and Tenerife lol, can't see it being that...I hope!

*Songs.......We don't really 'have' songs! We're already finding it hard to pick a song for our first dance...keep changing our minds!

*Common interests.....He loves outdoors-y things, and I err don't! We socialise a lot with friends at home or out, raise my daughter but don't passionately share an interest.

It's probably glaringly obvious but that's sometimes when it's hardest to see! Smiley smile xx

No idea what it could be but that's really lovely Smiley smile my OH is choosing table names but not keeping it a surprise. If he's got any surprises lined up I don't have a clue about them!

    That's lovely!

I'm terrible when it comes to stuff like that, I either wouldn't be able to keep it a secret because I'd want the other person to get excited with me or if it's the other way round i'd want to know so much that it'd be like torture not knowing!!

H2b chose ours, although it's not a surprise. We're having super heros! The top table is Iron Man ?

My OH chose our table names. He wants Binary.

I've told people at work and it hasn't got a great response. If it's what he wants though I don't mind. Plus it'll really confuse some people which should be funny!

There are so many things he could chose it'll be really hard to guess.

You're very brave not knowing about the honeymoon. I don't think I would enjoy it (the not knowing that is, not the actual honeymoon). We are going to Vegas because he has wanted to go there for as long as we've been together and we are going to Antigua so I get a lovely beach Smiley smile

That's really lovely Smiley smile I like surprises too although I always nag OH to tell me!

My OH is naming our tables too. He's having race tracks so he'll tell me which ones he wants and I'll get the signs sorted and printed.

My H2B is picking our table names...He's choosing favourite Manchester United football players, with the Top Table being George Best!

Apparently lots of his friends were incredibly surprised that I 'allowed' him to do that; but the way I see it, is that he's given me the freedom to choose lots of elements of our day, and his team are a big part of his life, so why not? I believe marriage is about making sure that you're both happy, so I want to start the first day of our marriage as we mean to continue!

My fiancé has organised the honeymoon as a surprise too, and I will probably find out on the wedding day as we may be asking for contributions as part of the gift list. Part of me is struggling not to ask questions - the only thing stopping me is knowing he wouldn't tell me anything however much I asked.

if your fiancé is finding it difficult to keep the destination a surprise, could the table names be possible destinations? If he was doing that, it would still be a surprise at the airport, but it could be fun for guests (and you) to guess which table name is the actual destination

My H2B chose our table names and he picked places that have meant something to us during our relationship. For example we had our first kiss and he proposed to me in the same spot on a little bridge in Rothbury so he chose that as a table name, our relationship began at a night out at the cinema with our group of friends to see Batman, so we are having a Batman table! Maybe he will do something like that?!

Aw thats fab about him keeping it a surprise! I think that us as brides to be get so caught up in planning and wanting to surprise the guests that it is nice for us to get a surprise too on the day.

My OH is being great with allowing me freedom with our wedding and theme / colours so I have said for him to chose our first dance song and to pick the table names. I might suggest to him to keep it a surprise so I only find out on the day too Smiley smile I reckon out tables will be named after either chocolate (OH loves chocolate), Aberdeen football team players, Man U team players, cartoons he used to watch, transformer robot names or super heroes. xx

Your OHs are so imaginative! More than mine anyway. He is letting me choose most things so when we started discussing table names, he piped up that he wanted to decide....he just wanted numbers!

My H2B is picking our table names, with my help, we're having wrestling mottos, we're also going to have personalised invites with hearts made from stuff we like, e.g. I might crochet some hearts and we'll use images from wrestling and video games for 'his' hearts. These things don't fit with our theme really and my mum kind of turned her nose up when I mentioned it but I want some of his interests to be represented as well because I'm getting to choose so much!

Oh wow all those table names sound great!

Yeh I do really love surprises! OH is really into snowboarding so I've made him promise he'll not take me somewhere coooold!! But I've literally no clue and I love thatSmiley smile

My sister had a wee competition on the day and asked her guests to guess the theme of their table names...answers on a piece of paper, collected in, winner got a bottle of champers! Although I'm sure some people done a cheeky google search! I thought it was Italian mountains as they love Rome and hillwalking but it was Scottish castles! Thought the competition was a great idea though!

I've been given lots of free reign too for the entire day so he's really enjoying this! I'm going to make the table plan from a canvas with a cheeky wallpaper sample for B&Q, cream and gold vintage design glued on, with the plans with guests and a simple number.....he's going there before ceremony to stick his chosen names over the numbers. On the tables the template will be the same idea as the larger plan with numbers pencilled on, and he will stick the names on top Smiley smile xx

I think that is a really good idea, to have some nice surpises Smiley smile

We met due to both being car enthusiasts so to incorporate cars (but not by having a massive car cake!) we are having small touches, tables names, car themed, I have found our favours... car themed. We are having the parking outside the church blocked off for our friends with modified cars to park up, all with white ribbons on their cars Smiley smile Just small touches, that wont ruin the vintage/flowery theme of our wedding!
