Had my first wedding meltdown! *proud face*

Skeptical78, 13 February, 2013 at 10:03 Posted on Planning 0 26

So it finally happened. Instead of making pancakes, I spent half an hour in the bog sniffling like a traumatised teenager last night- it was borderline stamp up the stairs, throw myself on the bed, "I hate you!!!" stuff.

Long and short is that, despite having told me ages ago that she didn't want to come on my hen weekend (quote: "It would be a bit weird, so no"), my brother's fiance has now decided that she does want to come.

BUT instead of just telling me, she's been whining at my brother about why she hasn't been invited (?) who then moaned to my mum (who is organising it) that I was being mean for not inviting her, who then called me last night to express her 'disapproval' at my decision not to invite her and lecturing me about how she will be family soon, I should really think about having her along...the fact is, I haven't invited ANYONE yet- I'm still looking at numbers / costs, etc.

And, on top of all of this...SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T WANT TO COME. ?

I held it together until I was off the phone from my mum...all I said was "I'm going to KILL my brother"...and OH *snapped* at me..."I don't want to hear it!!". He NEVER snaps. He knows better.

Cue epic snotty tantrum ? "Right that's it, I'm just going to cancel this f*ing wedding, it's too much f**ing work, money and effort and no-one else gives a flying f**k apart from me..I'm just trying to keep every other f**ker happy...what's the f**ing point?...I don't know why I f**ing bother trying to do ANYTHING nice....and you obviously don't even CARE!!!" *stomp, stomp, stomp*

I don't know what was wrong with me! It was (retrospectively) hilarious. I ended up cooking 'angry' pancakes which were pasty and hideous, and then threw one at the cat and went to bed.

At least you can see the funny side now!

I have no doubt this is going to happen to me at some point and I can only hope it ends with me doing this...

Really made me giggle. Hope you are feeling less stressed today ?

Sorry but I had to laugh reading through it lol.

Feeling any better for it ?

If I was you I'd be asking your brother's fiance infront of everyone else, why she just didn't let you know she had changed her mind about coming to your hen do , put the spotlight on her which is exactly where it should be , also since you obviously don't mind her being there,(very enthusiastically) add in that she is more than welcome to come along then enjoy the brownie points when everyone else sees how reasonable you are.

I read this, had a little giggle at the thought of your poor cat with a pancake over its face and then I realised... I have not had such a paddy yet (and I do at the age of 26 still have a paddy if I get really into a tiz, although not that often, it has been known to happen) Bugger. I have this yet to come!!!

Oh, God.....of course! Our 'arguments' (read: me going off on one for no apparent reason) never last more than an hour. We're both too lazy to sustain epic rows like some couples. We were drinking tea and watching South Park before you know it. S'pose that's why we're getting married!

My BROTHER on the other hand...... ?

And I'll NEVER forgive that cat.

This is brilliant - I'm glad it's not just me who has these 'moments'! Yesterday I had a mini meltdown about my left arm - basically I have a white watch strap mark and so wanted a bracelet for the wedding to cover it up. My wrists are abnormally thin and so I can't find one that fits anywhere. So I tried fake tanning the strap mark instead. Now bare in mind that I'm VERY pasty. What should happen, but my pasty white patch of skin somehow repelled the tan and spread it over to the edges of the mark, instead of staying within it. So I now have a stripey orange wrist and still no bracelet. So yesterday I of course had a meltdown about this, emailed my BF, calling the situation a dilemma etc etc. As BFs do she simply told me "this is ridulous, read it back". I did and haven't laughed so much in ages!

I've also just had a two day strop with H2B about the wedding planning ( how I've been left to do it all on my own and no one else caring which of course they do but I'm a major control freak and need to do it all myself) lol even threatened to cancel the whole thing. Got a bunch of flowers off him yesterday and calm has been restored (I'm still doing it on my own but flowers make me feel better about it!) hahaha a good paddy now and again is good for you!

Glad your feeling better hun, but like everyone else I laughed out loud reading this!! I'm laughing at it now, the way you have written it I could see it all playing out in my head. Have you spoken to your mum since and explain that nothing was set in stone and she didn't want to come?

For the record, Im not a spoiled brat, lol. Im just trying to plan the wedding from overseas and it gets to me at times and I feel like Im on the outside. LOL But I know me. There will be another stupid angry for no reason moment

Wow! This thread has blown up overnight! Sorry- I only tend to go on the forum when I'm at work, probably when I'm suppose to be....working (ahem).

Thanks for all your kind words / support!

Just to answer a couple of questions:

    1. The cat- he's adopted from my mum; where she is renting doesn't allow pets, so it was either we had to take him, or he went to be rehomed. But he's changed, man. I'll come home and him and OH will be on the sofa looking all innocent, but I KNOW that they've been talking about me.

Also, he is a perpetual fleabag (the cat, not my OH). I'm not saying that I have the highest standards of hygiene or house-pride, but he's entered into a circle of 1- getting fleas, 2- scratching ALL THE TIME and getting flea dirt and hair EVERYWHERE in the house which results in 3- me forking out a small fortune on flea treatments which 4- gets rid of the fleas.....for about two weeks, and then he goes out and picks them up again! Also, he is snotty, over-demanding, whiny and an idiot. Probably why he gets on so well with OH.

During the time of the pancake incident, he was sitting in the door of the kitchen doing his stupid kitteh mewling because he wanted food (he ALWAYS wants food) and it was at least an hour until his dinner time.

(For concerned animal lovers, the pancake wasn't hot..it had been sat on the side for a couple of minutes before I threw it)

    2. The argument- all sorted now, thanks! She has been duly invited (in fact, it helps me to make up numbers for the accommodation), I am back on speaking terms with my brother and my mum no longer thinks I am Satan. ?

    ?

It would seem your cat has attachment issues ! lol ...have you considered a pet psychologist ? ? but what's the harm in a nice little bromance eh ?

I sympathise over the cat's fleas but be thankful its only fleas and that he is a male, as my ex once arrived to pick up our son and gifted him a kitten ( I'm not a cat person ! ) came home a few months later to find the said cat in the airing cupboard and had had 5 kittens !!! ?

If your mum is anything like mine she probably still thinks you are Satan but is being nice until the wedding so as your OH officially becomes Satan's next of kin instead of her ?

Seriously though, I'm pleased you got everything sorted out,
