sammi23, 4 August, 2011 at 15:50 Posted on Planning 0 8

Were going tonight to look at a suit for men in our wedding party......... we keep getting told to make sure we haggle and have done for a few things and we have got a good discount!

Would you do it with suit hire? my cousin has said she got a 20% discount plus her groom went free.

Im not if i dare ?

give it a try for sure! When you see them and they start talking booking them, ask what the best price they could do is, don't let them think you're definately booking them either. say that theres another place you are going to look at suits as well.

We got 10% when we paid our balance in full on booking, so if thats possible, you could use that to your advantage too?

I think it's normal for the groom to go free if you buy more than 3 too.

I got 20% off in a promotion and another 15% discount on top as i get staff discount as my work refer people to them so 35% off in total, was not cheeky enough to ask for further tho!

No don't do it! it's bad for business lol ?

Seriously, if you don't ask you don't get. I think it is worth while asking for a discount from any supplier. It is always worth remembering that there is a good way and a bad way to haggle. The good way may work, the bad way will almost certainly lead to no discount and get your relationship off on the wrong foot.

I am pretty sure that most suppliers are not offended if you ask, it's is only when people ask in the wrong way that it becomes a little awkward.

On a similar note, customers should not be offended if the supplier does not want to haggle. I know in my shop, we do not really 'do' haggling. But we are a funny little lot. ?

Also when it comes to mens suit hire shops (and i know a little about this subject) the services offered are not always the same. The best deal, is not always the 'best' deal. Do your research, look at different styles, designs, fit, quality of service and read lots of reviews.

    I hope that helps,

    Marc

P.S. Karakat, can I be nosey and ask what problems you have had?

That is herrendous. What a horrible, horrible person.

When I asked you this question, I never in a million years thought that was going to be your reply. I was hoping I could help in some way. But I am afraid there is nothing I can do.

I could offer to bosh the sales assistant on the nose but that won't help.

I am a little bit ashamed that someone in my business could act like that.

I have worked for both of the biggest hire companies in the U.K. and their customer service levels are never going to be as high as a tiny little shop like mine but I have never come across this level of insensitivity.

I hope you write a very strongly worded letter to head office (or the owner) and come back on here after the wedding and name and shame.

Best of luck with your wedding, if I can help in anyway send me a message.

    Marc
