Hair and make up for bridesmaids?

I am paying for their hair to be done, although I may not do for 1 of them as she has pretty short hair so seems silly to pay someone.

With makeup I said I was happy to book it for them as well but that I can't afford to pay for that so if they want it they can pay for themselves, they declined.

ETA - I think it really depends on how fussy you are on what they look like on day. If you're asking them to do their own hair then I think it's unfair to expect them to do anything elaborate and they should choose how they have it.

Im paying for my 3 bridesmaids to have their hair and make up done and she is going to have to come early!

As Nutella said too - Its unfair to dictate specifics of what you want and then to get them to do it themselves. I really just wanted to treat mine.

That's another thing, one of my BMs has short hair too and it looks great just as it is, paying 35 quid for it would be pointless IMO. I think the time it would take for everyone is bothering me more than the cost!

I definitely won't be dictating how they wear their hair and make up, they can do it however they like ?

I am paying for my 4 bridesmaids to have there hair done, but they are doing there make up themselves, i don't see a problem with all the waiting around, im sure they will manage to keep busy drinking champers and constantly re applying there make up! however all my bms have medium/long hair and i really want them to all have there hair up, so in my case i think it would be silly and unfair expecting them to do it themselves as none of them are really intrested in hairstyling.

My bridesmaids are having their hair and make-up done by the same people as me but they are paying. I asked them before hand and they were all quite willing (suppose I am lucky in that respect). Although they are paying for their own I will be asking them to have it in a certain way (of course I want them to like it and feel nice and if they are happy then most probably I will be). All my bridesmaids are more than happy with this because (as they have said) its my day and they are honoured that I want them to be part of it. I have bought the hair pieces which i would like them to wear. I suppose you could ask and get a feel from them on how they feel about it. 4 of my bridesmaids expected that they would pay for this and the other two are flowers girls so I am paying for them anyway.

I think it's fine for them to pay their own way and then decide for themselves if they want to do it or not. If there are enough people, it might end up worth it to have 2 stylists due to time constraints. I'm have someone in to do my hair and if any of my BMs want theirs done as well, they'll pay for it themselves. I have a feeling my sister will just do her own hair, as will my other maid, but my MoH might get the pro to do hers!

I say give them the option and tlel them the price. If they want to, they'll sign up for it, and then depending on how many people want their hair done, talk to your lady about how long it will be, and maybe see how much it would be to get a second girl to do hair as well.

My bridesmaids are paying for my makeup for me! And their own....I am paying for one of their hairs...the other is having her sister do it as she is a hairdresser....

I diddnt really care how they had thier hair or make up- as long as they were happy I was. If they wanted thier hair done they could have done it but as it was they all had it down and looked lovely.

Im buying them the accessories but they know how their hair works best and are happy to do it themselves.

Thanks everyone, I think I'm going to say that I will happily pay for them to have their hair done but make them aware they will have to get to the hotel early if she is to fit everyone in. Make up they can do themselves.

I have 3 BM's. What we deicded to do is we are paying for them all to get their hair done and they were asked if they wanted to get the make up done aswell would they mind paying for it. We were happy to pay for one to be done but to pay for both was just gonna cost a fortune. They are all happy to pay for make up to be done.

Exactly this. I'm not paying for mine as unfortunately I can't afford it. They're all happy with this but bless them they keep asking how I want them to have their hair. I can't count the amount of times that I've said they all look gorgeous however they have their hair - I REALLY don't mind.
