I booked last december lol. Having my trial on 17th November, getting married on 17th december. I would say it's never too early to book

Is that day a Saturday? If so, September is still a busy time of year so I personally would start looking just in case you need to try a few different people before finding one you are happy with. It's never too early to start looking and you'll be thankful that you were so organised when you only have a few months to go!

    Lol, awww bless you.

Ok, I'm getting married in May and just booked my hair and make-up lady this week. I'm having my trial in February, paid a £10 booking fee for now and will either pay £35 for the trial if I decide not to go ahead with the wedding day booking, or will pay a £100 deposit after the trial and the remainder of the balance on the day.

Most salons and independent artists will have a gallery and a price list on their website. I found mine at the local wedding fayre earlier this month but I think they have artists all around the UK if you want me to give you their details. They're quite pricey (by my standards anyway!), costing me about £450 for my trial, hair and make-up plus 3 bridesmaids hair and make-up on the day. The lady's portfolio was stunning though and she spent ages just chatting with me about ideas at the fair. No other artist I'd spoken to had taken much interest beyond giving me their leaflet!

How do you go about actually finding one? When ever i've been to wedding fayres ive never seen anybody. I've phoned around a couple through yellow pages but there don't seem to be many people where I live .

    Hi Sarah

I am a professional make up artist and would like to know where your located? I can help you find a make up artist if your still looking for one. I also know a couple of stylists that I have worked with too.

I am based in peterborough, but travel all over.

I would BOOK straight away as I have tried 2 people who are already booked for my wedding day.. and as for the trial, about a month before would be sufficient unless your worred then you could have it before.. the consultant should tell you whens best x

Hey Sawah, I get married on the same day as you and haven't booked my hair and make up yet. I've had a bit of a browse and have found a lady who sounds pretty good (I'm getting married on the Isle of Wight, so am somewhat limited with choice), but I'm yet to get around to properly researching and contacting anyone . . . perhaps I should get a jiffy on!! ?

I'm pretty certain the lady I saw advertised did the trial and full hair and make up for the bride on the day for £160, obviously Bridesmaid and any others will be more, but unless I got her prices mistaken I reckon it sounds a bargain. Not really sure how much these things are supposed to cost though.

My wedding is in June and I've just booked my make up trial for this month. The lady was recommended to me by my photographer ? The trial is £30 and on the wedding day it's £50.

The lady who I've been going to for years now to colour my hair is styling my hair free for me on the day as a wedding present.
