Hair Extensions?

Cbee, 24 September, 2013 at 18:09 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi everyone,

I have been advised by my hairdresser to get extensions for my big day to give my hair some more volume and length. She said I can get clip ins, from a supplier or they do real ones for extra.

I'm not sure what to do, I quite like the idea of having luscious honeymoon hair. Has any had or going to have real extensions or just go for the clip ins?

Thanks in advance

I'm going all out and having long extensions put in; there's even talk of the bridesmaids having some coloured extensions to go with the colour scheme - their suggestion, not mine, I should point out! I have had them before, so I know what to expect in terms of time and care and stuff. Although this time they aren't bright pink dreads down to my bum, haha! Smiley laugh

Might be worth a trial run before the wedding to see how you get on with them?

    Hi there!

I'm new on here and I've been lurking for a while reading other posts etc but hadn't joined inm until now. I've just logged on as a member is that I had a big stress over this last week and thought that I would share with you.

I had my hair trial last week and kind of having a low down side bun of curls (best way I can describe it) anyway, the overall look from the trial was okay but I just don't really have enough hair for the look that I really wanted and my hair is very fine.

I have bought a strip section of extensions which have been colour matched and the hairdresser is going to cut pieces into sections and grip them in to my finished stryle to bulk it out and to make it look fuller, so depending if you are having your hair up or down this could be an option for you.

They suggested for me not to have the clips as my hair is fine and it might look "bumpy" where the clips are covered by my hair as my hair isn't very thick to cover them. I paid £21 for half a pack which was loads to be honest and they are human hair so can be straightened and curled with tongs etc.

I hope that might help a bit.

I wasn't planning on wearing any but at my hair trail my own hair was just that bit too short to achieve the style I wanted. I actually had some clip in extensions at home that a friend had given me so I dyed one when I dyed my hair & it did the job! Probably not the best pic but hopefully you can see it meant I had a fuller bun. If you want the extensions to last through your honeymoon you'd have to have proper ones rather than clip in x

I'm having full head clip ins for the day.

Going to try them out later, I've got real hair so can dye them if need be.

I've had friends who have had glue in ones and the Maintance of them put me off.

I had a full head of 21inch clip ins and they looked and felt amazing! Really glamorous and luxurious. Though, by the end of the night, I couldn't wait to take them out as they were quite heavy!

I've since dyed mine and worn again and again which is only really possible with 'real hair' extension!

I've had half and full head extensions loads of times. I mean the ones that are attached to your hair, not clips etc.

I've never had any problems with maintenance but I do think you need to make sure the hair quality is good, if you choose that option. It makes a huge difference to how they last and how they look. It's not worth scrimping and getting cheaper quality hair, IMO.

You do need to be prepared that if you have the same ones as I've had, you'll need to buy a tangle teaser as you can't use a regular brush. Or at least not without hurting yourself and pulling the extensions out.

The brand of extensions I have are called "great lengths" they probably last 5 months, so whilst they're expensive to begin with over the time it's not too bad.

ETA- they're addictive. Once you have them once you won't go back. You've been warned!

    Hi

I've just got my clip in hair extensions for the big day.

My hair is just past shoulder length at the moment but i'm having it half up with the bottom curled and this is going to take about an inch off the length.

My future sister in law is a hairdresser so she took me a couple of weeks ago to get some waist length clip in extensions (they'll be shorter than that when curled). They match my hair colour perfectly and i'm really impressed with them although they do take some getting used to. I got a full head of extensions plus clips for about £70.
