Hair help!

pink_bride_23, 6 April, 2009 at 08:14 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hi everyone

I had my hair trial yesterday and I thought I liked it but my friend said it looked too curly and a bit frizzy! I don't know what to do and know what she means as I've seen photos! I paid £35 for the trial and can't afford to pay any more but don't know what to do! I want curls but loose natural ones not ringlets and that's what it looked like. My hair takes curls really well and they didnt drop yesterday even though I was out in the wind-they're still there this morning!

help! x

Don't have any on me at work just now. I was wanting the natural big loose curls thing though and I still look like I've got ringlets today!

Did ur hair dresser use GHD's to curl it? last may I went to the salon to get hollywood curls, normally achieved in heated rollers but she GHD'd my hair and I came out looking like shirley temple!!

suggest the big tongs as opposed to any straightners or use curlers, using your curly day today as an excuse.....

Thanks for your reply, yeah she used ghds. I should probably get her round to do it again with rollers but I don't want to pay for another trial! Rubbish... Smiley sad

Do you have any haircuts or colours booked between now and your wedding? If so, you could discuss it with her then and say that the curls were too tight and could she maybe show you it with less curl, more wavy! You never know, as you're booked in she may do it on the cheap!

Then just call her and suggest that tho you like it you've woken up uber-curly and wonder if she could use heated rollers are done instead, if your hair holds a curl that well then a good spray of the sticky stuff will keep a curl in.

my trial is next wednesday and i'm a bit nervous too!

Ok-another question! She's come back to me and said she could do large sections with straighteners or sections with rollers. Do rollers work on dry hair and will the curls stay in? I don't know what to say but I need to get it right this time as I can't afford to have her back again after this!

    Help!

Yes rollers work on dry hair - just use lots of spray, however they will give bigger curls than the ghd's and this might look odd. Shes prolly thinking of speed too. When i use my heated rollers I leave them in overnight which is helluva pain in the head but I do get hollywood curls. You might find they do drop quicker but this is what the practise is for!

if you are able to use them in the venue you might be smart to buy a set of curling tongs, for a tenner or so from boots, just to oomph ya before the evening??? not ghds, just plain ole fashinioned tongs.

hell, and heres me worried about looking more 1930s than 1940s! curls are a headache Smiley smile

I know, why can't I just have curly hair?!!!! Nightmare! Maybe I should opt for a perm! Hehe!

I've got old tongs somewhere I think I'll look them out.

Do you think I'll need to ask my hairdresser if she has one of those hood drier things?

Nah but a blast from the hairdryer wouldnt do them any harm. Heated rollers need time to cool down before taking them out and that could be 20-30 mins so I can see why shes using the ghd's. Have you got any pics (from websites) of what look you're going for?

Yeah-I'm not sure how to add them onto this post though! Do I have to upload them on a website or something?

    Ahhh now i get ya.....

i have multi-talented hair, it either looks like that or is poker straight depending on whether i let it dry naturally. Have you tried the olde scrunche drye look?? mousse, head upside down, difuse and then add with curlers/tongs/rollers????

You wouldn't want curls if your had them lol. I have loose wavy curls, similar to what you're looking for, and I'm forever straighening mine! Typical isn't it??

I have to agree with Nona about trying the head upside down and diffuse thing. Gives a nice kind of surfer chick look, which could give you the base and then and some feature curls with tongs.

The styles in the pics look lovely, and I hope you get it sorted with your hairdresser.

Aw I know-you always want what someone else has eh?

Thanks, the diffuse-thing on the hairdrier doesn't work for me as there is not one hint of a wave or curl in my hair so it just goes frizzy straight-not a good look!

Got the hairdresser coming tomorrow night so will let you know how I get on!!!

    Thanks girls x
