Hair Help **flash**

2013_Bride_, 2 February, 2013 at 14:44 Posted on Planning 0 23

Hi,

How many hair trials did you have until you were happy?

I had my first one today and hated the results. I didn't realise how much I hated it until I got home.

Its completely different from the picture I shown them that I wanted.

Now I'm panicking that I need to go with a safe option of just having it down to be safe :-(

Did you tell then to try something else?

Worst case I'd be going with someone else if you did.

No, I didn't realise how awful it was until I got home. My appointment was over anyway, they just did the 1 style and it took 1.5 hours!

I didn't get shown the back until the end.

I should have piped up earlier as I could sense it wasn't being done how I had imagined it Smiley sad

I just thought they know best and perhaps they just have their own way of pinning it to look the way it did in the photo etc.

Oh no! Did you take a picture?

Was it a salon? Could you ring then and ask for another?

I did, I'll post them once I've found a lead... i.e. the one I shown and what I've got.

I can ask for another but I'm just worried that maybe this hairdresser isn't suited to the style I want and I'll of ended up spending £50 on trials (£25 a go).

I have no doubt that she thought what she was doing was beautiful but it was just not 'me' what so ever.

Also some of her suggestions worried me, like putting in little swirly diamante clips around my head, something I just really wouldn't want / or my hair to look like it would suit.

Unfortunately some people prefer to do what they think would look nice rather than what you ask for!

It's a difficult situation because its obviously costs money to have another trial or risk it and just wait for the wedding day. Where are you?

I have no problem paying for another trial I just don't know whether to give this hairdresser another go or try elsewhere.

I'm kind of looking at it as if she couldn't do it the first time how I wanted what chance do I have on the second try?

And another option is finding a different hairstyle... but again, whats to say that one will be copied rightly?

Its just made me doubt my decision to have it up at all now.

I always wear my hair down so my back-up option was down and curled (I wanted up so it stayed pristine all day / night and didn't blow everywhere in photos, and was a bit different etc). Now contemplating whether I just need to go with down and curly to be safe.

    I'm based in Northamptonshire x

    Just about to upload photos...

I just wondered if it was normal to need a few hair trials before you were 'happy' ?

The photo of how you want is lovely, I can see what u mean though very different , your actual hair has a lot tighter curls. (Still does look lovely though) but just not what you were hopeing for x

It also takes up most of my head which isn't what I wanted.

It was very straight in top too where as photos I shown had it a bit more tousled.

Have you left it in still? It might be a style that needs to "relax" a little and the weight of it might give you the tousled look that you want after an hour...

I showed my hairdresser the 2nd picture the other day and she advised that it would be difficult to get it looking exactly the same unless you had natural girls (which I don't) as it could end up looking a bit too 'done' which I suspect is what you don't like about your trial?

Really they should have picked up that you wanted a more tousled look from the beginning so for that reason alone I wouldn't go back to them for another trial!

It seems too high, like you've got a more formal version of it. Is it your regular hairdresser? I'm having the girl who always does my hair, or is that not possible?

    Thanks all.

Not my usual hairdresser, I wanted one who could come to my home to do me and 5 BM and they don't do home visits.

Might have to see about popping out to get mine done maybe.... not ideal but as long as I look good who cares!

I'm really contemplating whether 'up' is for me now. No offence to anyone who is having theirs down but I've always thought I'd have mine up as down seems a bit more 'casual' / like the other guests.

But I've been looking and I do really like this hair style, so maybe in my next trial I'll ask them to curl like this, then pin it up in a few different ways to see what I prefer.

Do you think this sort of curl / down would stay in all day / night though? Thats the only concern.

Ah OK it's not that bad at all. I'd say it's just too high and tight. The trouble is, if you like the top ones and go for the bottom look, those curls will drop out quite quickly.

I actually recognise your picture as I think one of my brides went with the same inspiration (she had it on her iphone for the hairdresser) but had shorter hair than you here...

When are you getting married again as I can recommend the Hairdresser that did this? Or you just say to have it looser and lower like the picture you are showing her.

    3rd August x

I think from looking at all the curly hair photos I'm never going to be happy unless its exactly how it is in the pictures I shown them in all honesty.

Perhaps I need to look at some straight do's for up dos!

I don't know what it is about the up curl do... I just hate how tight they all look.

I think she could do it if it wasn't pinned so tight.

As long are there are other styles you like then go for them but don't have any regrets wishing you'd had that one. It is possible to do!

Thankyou. Is it quite normal for hairdressers to trial lots of styles in one 'trial' appointment? I seen a thread a while ago by someone who posted say four different options they had come out of their trial. I'm definitely going to make sure this is done for my next appointment!! Get my monies worth!

I'd say yes, she should have tried something else if you didn't like it in that time.

    Hello

I have had my hair trial today, but its was with my normal hair dresser. She tried 3 slightly different styles today, and i have choose one i like. She has said it will be a bit neater on the day and the curls will be better, as they got a bit messy with taking it up and down a few times.

I do like your pic of your hair, but maybe if it was a bit looser and didnt take up all your head, if you know what i mean it might be better. I am def going for up, as i know my fair will drop and frizz etc by the end if i dont as it has a slight natural wave to it.

I have got some pics of mine, but it wont let me put them on. How do it do it?? I gone to insert media, then gone to browse and found the image but it doesnt do anything when i press insert.

    xxx

Do they specialise in bridal hair or are they regular hairdressers? It might be worth trying someone who is a bridal specialist. Have a look at this lady www.charlottewesson.co.uk, she's amazing. At any trial you shouldn't leave until you're completely happy, even if this means trying several different things.

I had my hair styled like the ones your considering (down and curled) a few years ago when I was bridesmaid....and it did stay in until the evening, and I've got thick heavy hair xx
