Hair Issues

Princess_Dimples, 15 February, 2010 at 15:53 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi All

I have ages, but I like to have things straight in my mind. I am a very organised person!! LOL

My biggest problem out of the whole wedding is my hair. I dislike my hair a lot. Its shoulder length, very thick and very frizzy. I try to straighten it but as soon as Im outside, i start to resemble cousin IT LOL. I have been known to curl my hair using lots of moose and scrunching it, but I feel this looks very messy. I spend most of my time with it up in a fancy bun.

I was wondering whether anyone (perhaps a wedding hair stylist, if there are any on here) could suggest some updo's that would look good. I also don't have a fringe, as they are very hard work with my hair. Im looking to wear a Tiara, but no veil.

Any suggestions to help me rest my mind would be much appreciated!

Also here's a pic of me (and my pub sadie, she's not that small anymore) - I also have an issue that I think I have a rather large forehead!! LOL

No ideas for up do's but i have very curly fuzzy hair too so i sympathise!!! what do you use on your hair?? i use sunsilk waves and curls shampoo and conditioner and have also found that schwarzkopf coconut yoghurt smoothie works well. failing that lush doa yummy shampoo called curly wurly which is really good for the curls. to style i use t&g's curl balm (the one in the silver pot) which i apply when wet, blow dry slightyl with a defuser and then run abit more through. so far its the best way ive found for coping with the curls lol x

I have tried most things over the years and nothing seems to work. I currenlty was it with Straigtening shampoo, and de frizzing conditioner (although I don't use much, as conditioner makes it worse). I then add frizeze straightening serum and atemp to blow dry it straight. I usually give up half way.

I work on a Reception so I spend most of my time with my hair up. To be honest this is how I feel most comfortable. If I have it down and its straight I will spend most of my day panicing and looking in the mirror to see how big its grown LOL.

I think the bottom one is more like what I would go for. I don't particuly want my hair down, and definatly not in curls, it just looks so messy!

Yay, my first time to adopt my hairdresser head (I'm training at the mo, but hopefully I can still help).

    You're hair needs to reflect your personality, but you are very right in saying that once you leave the salon you dont want to have to think about your hair again. If you normally 'stress' about how big your hair gets if its down/straight, then I would advise one of the more structured styles that has been suggested - off the top of my head, the bottom one from the first lot, with the cross-over bottom. A few things to think about;

When you hair is up in a bun, think of the area from the bottom of the bun to the nape of your neck - does this become loose and have to be re-done during the day, or will it stay flat and smooth?

When your hair is up, can you tell that it's curly (does it have the curly kink, even if it's sitting flat on your head) or does it appear straight?

If you straighten your hair and then put it up, will it stay smooth and straight or will the curly kink come back throughout the day?

Do you have any bits at the front down (even if its just behond your ears) or is it all back?

I hope my questions make sense - I'm off to find some style suggestions for you

    Lx

Thanks Ditzy Chick, gosh there is a lot to think about...

When my hair is up in a bun, i do have a few loose bits, where my hair is shorter. But I'm looking to grow my hair out!

No you can't tell I have curly hair when its up, its more frizzy that curly. It lays quite flat, but I do have lots of wispy bits which I tame with a lot of hairspray. My Mum always laughs that I look so severe sometimes!

If I was to straighten it, then put it up it will stay reletivly straight with the help of plenty of hairspray again. Although if its a pony tail, the tail end will start to grow if left!

I do really have any stray bits at the front. I do have quite a high hair line, which is why I think I have a large forehead lol.

Thank you for your help... this is the one thing out of the whole wedding planning I know will stress me out the most!
