Hair, make up and fitting here we come !! Eek!! *FLASH !!*

mum-wants-a-hat, 29 April, 2013 at 09:34 Posted on Planning 0 8

So I'm counting the minutes until I head off to my fabulous friend's house for my hair and makeup trials.... Then we are going straight to the bridal shop for my first dress fitting!

I haven't set eyes on the dress since that very first day I saw it last year- second dress I ever tried on and kaboom! Paid for!

I've had my wobbles and been dreading today but I'm now 5 mins away from leaving the house and MUCHO excited!!!!!

(only 54 days to go waaaahhhhhh!!! )

Ignore the appearance of colour of my hair..... lighting makes it look totally weird- although it IS desperate for a colour !

Also, for the sake of me seeing the jewelling on the back of the dress, they tucked the ties up into the top of the corset.... obviously they will be nicely hidden on the day.

All in all, well chuffed with it all- first fitting and no alterations needed! So now it's just going to have a pro clean then I'll collect it a couple of days before the wedding !! EEk !! :0)

    Thankyou :0)

I don't 'do' dresses or makeup usually so I was worried I'd feel fake but, even though when I first saw my makeup I thought it was really heavy, it actually doesn't look it. By the time I got home, my 3 eldest were in (all very outspoken teenagers!) and both girls said they loved my makeup. Phew! I half expected a lecture (like I have given them many times over the years) about looking like it had been applied with a trowel lol!

Hair down and makeup removed before H2B got in so no sneak preview ;0)

Thankyou. It's a Maggie Sottero. TBH I hadn't a clue what I wanted as I'm not at all girly and really the only time I have ever worn long dresses is on stage. In fact, when I bought it I wasn't actually dress shopping at all.... I expected all bridal shop dresses would be way out of my budget and was planning on buying preloved or have my mum make me a dress. The only reason we went in was to try different styles on to see what may or may not suit me as I didn't want to fall for something I'd seen online and it end up looking totally wrong. It was the first dress we spotted and the second I tried on. There was no big emotional 'ive found it!' moment, just a 's**t! This wasn't meant to happen!' type thing haha. As luck would have it, it fitted really well and was in the sale so mum paid for it there and then. It was £387.

I love the fact that although it has the train and everything, I feel like it's 'me' and relaxed. It's chiffon so pretty light weight and the corset actually gives me a figure without feeling at all restrictive. To say I wobbled after such an impulsive purchase, I definitely feel confident that I made the right decision now I have had it on again :0)
