Hair & Make Up Cost

louismummy, 4 October, 2012 at 11:48 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hello Ladies,

I'm getting married on 11th May at Belle Époque in Knutsford. I have booked most things now but have just started to look at hair and make up.

My question is how much are you all paying for this? I want to have a trial and then pay for my mum and bridesmaid on the day.

I've no idea how much this should cost?

My hairdresser is a good friend and she's also doing my make up. My hair is essentially free and she's charging £60 for my 3 bridesmaids. She wasn't going to charge any more for doing my make up but I'm going to pay half her room. I'm lucky cos she's a guest as well so on hand all day and night if I need her lol

I paid roughly 400 quid for me and 4 others to have hair and makeup. That included a trial for me.

    Hi,

Ooo, I am getting married at the Belle Epqoue next December, the 7th, how is your planning going?

I am getting my make up done and my two bridesmaids make up done (just me having a trial though) and it is costing £205 in total (although about a fiver of that is for travel) and we are getting ours done my Michelle Sission, she is meant to be very good. As for hair I am unsure yet I want my own hairdresser to do it but i think it's going to cost about £400 for the three of us and my mum to have a blow dry asthe hairdresser has to travel and it is on a Saturday in December so a busy time for hairdressers. If this is the case which i will get confirmed in about 2 weeks I am going to get Michelle to do our hair as well which i think will bump the total cost with her up to about £380

    Hope this helps!

Ps Are you hiring a venue dresser at all?

    Thanks x

£30 for hair, £25 for makeup (same lady) and that was at my house so i didn't have to go to a salon.

For the actual wedding abroad, a lot more: $180 for hair, makeup and nails (2 ladies)

Ohhh another Belle Epoque bride here (5/10/13)

I was going to do my own make-up and get my usual hairdresser to do my hair. As some of you may already know from my post on WP, I got a mega bargain for my dress so I'm now thinking about getting someone in. I went to the wedding fare at Belle Epoque on Sunday and there was a MUA www.makeup-byclaire.co.uk.

I don't know if she's any good but prices are as follows:-

    Bride's make-up and free trial - £75, MOB - £40, BM - £35, FG(Under 12) - Free gloss, powder, blush etc

P.S - If you find someone really good could you let me know?

I have been quoted £60 for my trial, £120 for the day and £60 for my mum, flower girls free - that's for hair and make up.

i was looking for someone to do both as it minimises the number of people who will be there when I get ready and will generally make my life easier if I only have to deal with 1 person!

Nicola - I was at Belle Epoque's wedding fair on Sunday and spoke with Claire, she seemed really nice but only does make up. The lady I've had the quote from is Ann Barrington who was downstairs and she did the hair and make up for the fashion show. I entered her prize draw which was for free bridal hair and make up, I'm going to hold off booking until after the draw next week - you never know, i might get lucky!

I think I'm going to be ordering flowers through the lady who was there on Sunday, Emma Fawcett-Eustace, she was lovely to talk to and her prices are very reasonable, she didn't seem to mind we don't want much as Belle Epoque is dressed so beautifully all of the time.

Liz - Planning is going well thanks, i've booked most things now and ordered my dress, I can't believe it's only 7 months until the big day! We booked our honeymoon to Santorini a few weeks ago which i'm really excited about! We aren't having venue dressers as I don't think there is any need, Belle Epoque looks fab and I think I will only add candles and tea lights to what is already there. I'm trying to keep costs down as the venue and food is already costing what I hoped we could do everything for! How about you, how's your planning going?

Time is going so quick it's mental! We are trying to book the big things like the TOG and hair n make up and florist before Christmas so it's largely done. We are giving venue dressing a miss now as we'll contacted dreamweavers and minimum spend is 1000 so no chance the venue doesn't need that much, we just want candles etc. one question slightly off topic but are you setting up the candles or is the Belle Époque as it says on the info that they will only set up favours and the tables on the day?

good luck with the draw! X

    I paid £325.

This was for my hair & make up and Bridesmaids hair only.

    No trial.

For my daughter and I - we used our local hairdresser and beautician for both our make up and hair up dos. Total bill on the day was £71!! and I had about 3/4 trials for my hair which were free. We had both used the beautician before so we were happy we would have the right look on the day and our hairdresser is just wonderful! I gave him a big tip on the day because he had been such a perfectionist and insisted that everything had to be just right for both of us.

But I find some of the amounts charged to brides and their entourage just shocking and I know from experience that as soon as the word 'wedding' is mentioned then charges are ridiculous.

I think I'll set up myself, I'm hoping to stay at Belle Epoque the night before and get ready there so will hopefully be able to do it in the morning. It won't take long to set up a few candles. That's what i love about Belle Epoque, it's already dressed beautifully so there isn't much more to do.
